Red pill vs. Blue pill Poll

This was a poll made in the Pub, where people were asked which pill they would choose, in reference to the Matrix.

Here are the results: Red pill: 57% Blue pill: 43%

i would have though the bias towards red pill would have been greater.

I, too, expected a MUCH greater percentage of red-pill takers!
I'm surprised to see how many people involved with psychedelic usage would still prefer Bliss over Truth...

Your telling me, I love it how someone actually referenced my post! wohoo!
Yeah, I was expecting more redpills than what was picked but hey, it's pretty cool to see how many people would take it.

I think, if the poll was worded differently, there would be more votes for the red pill.
If they were asked.... "What would you have done in Neo's place, not knowing what each pill represents?" I think the results would be much different.
In the movie Neo didn't know what the fuck was going on. If someone asked you if you wanted to be shown the truth by taking the red pill......wouldn't you take it?

Yeah, but my choice wouldn't change if Morpheus had said:
"The red pill will show you the truth...but you won't like what you learn."
Truth > Bliss, any day.

The red pill certainly. Why take the blue pill and continue to live a lie?

Personally, I would take bliss over truth...to use a personal analogy. (Please don't debate me here if you disagree with the following...it's my own belief and nothing you say is going to alter it)
From all the reading I've done since 9/11 about 9/11...i am of the firm belief that the U.S. government was complicit in the attacks and it has seriously altered everything I believed to be true until that point. In retrospect, I was happier in my ignorance and would love to be one of what I consider to be brainless sheep...I can completely relate to the saying "Ignorance is bliss"

ya maybe its just because of how the question was worded that the results are like this.
but even still, i can't believe how many people would prefer to live in a fantasy machine-made reality instead of living the real life.
i don't know, maybe i actually shouldn't be so surprised, maybe i should've been able to predict such a result.
imagine if the blue bill percentage was stronger than the red pill one!

It was worded in a confusing way.
Still the results are predictable if you really think about it. Everyone is givien the choice between these two realities to some degree and everyone has made their choice. The result is the world we live in.

Wow. I am a little surprised. I figured a higher percentage would choose the red pill, especially on a site like this. No wonder it is so easy to brainwash people. They actually want to be fooled and will eagerly cooperate with their jailers! Bliss means remaining numb and dumb to many.
Sad. Now you see what all the great teachers of the past have been up against. Amazing.

i'd be more hesitant to accept the results of this poll lots of problems with it-
1. people choose to participate in the poll after they read the question. it may be that blue-pill poppers are more willing to respond to such a poll; they may feel more strongly about it.
2. this is a website about drugs. many people including many on this website use drugs as an escape.
3. i wonder if many people view posting on the internet as an escape from the burdens of their day-to-day life. there's a stigma attached to people who spend all their time on the internet for example. those who respond to web polls on the internet vs. those who keep to the grow logs may frequently be people who feel like they use the internet for escape; thus one would expect a more "escapist" result.
4. people overestimate the role of internal variables and underestimate the role of external variables in their own decision-making processes. asking folks what would they do bears little resemblance to what they would do in real life.
should one take the results of this poll seriously? personally i dont think there's enough reason to say either way.
it IS an interesting poll though.

Yeah you're right. I suspect that a real poll of the whole population would reveal about a 99 percentage of blue pill takers.
