Oh yeah, another fun thing, is cough drops a nice flavored one droped in the water adds a nice flavor, and breathing in the vapors of it disolving opens up your lungs.

the best is boiling water. it's all warm and steamy and the vapor feels great going into the throat--it coats it.

i want to try hot chocolate though.

one of the things that makes a bong a less efficient way to smoke is the fact that the "smoke" condenses on the glass/plastic due to the cooling action. using cold water would, logically, exacerbate this phenomena while using warm should alleviate it to some degree.

i start with cold but smoke plenty at room temp.

Put hot water in the first chamber to filter out some tars, add moisture to the smoke, and cool it down slowly. Next chamber use cold water to cool the smoke down to room temp and filter out even more tars... in the third chamber use ice to freeze the smoke and give it even more purity.. I'd imagine the gradual cooling system would produce the best quality smoke... Boy would I love to smoke one of those!

Dude. Two words... Dry Ice. Oh yah! It cools down the smoke so much you can take like 3 normal hits and not even notice it.

I also like to use 7 up or sprite when I make disposable bongs from bottles and such.

Wouldn't dry ice shatter a glass bong? I just use water.. Room temp.... My trusty bong patiently awaits October..

I'd just use ice water. All this three chambers business has to filter out a lot of the good stuff. I believe NORML did a study that shows smoking a joint is healthier than using a bong because it has a lower tar to THC ratio. Bong water actually filters out THC faster than tar (I think). So, I like to just use one chamber with ice cold water to cool the hits without filtering too much out.

i heard that you can use fruit juice but i would leave that for a cheap bong as it would prolly make it dirty but it flavors the smoke!! also just ice or dry bongs can be pretty sweet as the give huge 'pipe' hits.

I second that. The three chamber bongs are intended for:

Hot water
Cold Water
Ice

In that order, I think. The hot water filters better, the cold water i'm not sure about but probably just acts as a second chamber and an intermediary coolant, and the ice finishes it off nicely by chillin' it right out!

(Probably best not to use *boiling* water to avoid general melting and burns, to both bong and person)

no way guys. If its up to me i like to use steaming warm cranberry juice. the warm vapor soothes ur throat and it tastes soooo good. screw that cold shit...it just makes me cough and shiver

yeah, man. that's what i was talking about a few posts up. steaming water or juice is SOOO soothing it's ridiculous. i don't get everyones' drive for icey cold. it's okay, but if people tried boiling water instead they would see how it masks the smoke MUCH more than the coldest of chambers. you see, the warm vapor hydrates the throat and lungs allowing the smoke to enter without irritating you! oh i love it. warm cranberry juice sounds even better. but like i said in my post, i'd like to try hot chocolate!
