Anyone else have experience with cranberry juice?

I am not sure where my friend found out about this, but we have been doing it for about 6months now and I was wondering if anyone else does/has done this. We grind our shrooms into powder, mix with a glass of cranberry juice, and slam it. We have mixed the powder with other drinks, so we are aware that drinking makes it hit faster and harder, and the whole trip usually last less. But what we have found out with cranberry, is that it seems to almost double the strength of the intensity of the trip. We commonly take 4+grams dry when we just eat them. 2grams ground up mixed with cranberry though, seems stronger than that. 4grams and cranberry is like a heroic dose. I did it once and it was interesting to say the least lol. After talking to a nurse friend of mine, we think it may have something to do with the fact that psylocybin is a poison, and the 'trip' you feel is how your body reacts to the poison, i.e. cleaning the toxins. Cranberry juice is like a natural booster for your body to fight toxins. So mixing the two, makes your body fight the toxins more aggressively, i.e. tripping harder lol. We are just guessing, but after repeating with multiple people on multiple occassions, the cranberry trips have been consistently much stronger.

Has anyone else ever tried this method? or have any similar experiences? or even an accurate explanation of what we are experiencing? hehe

Well cranberries are high in acidity, so is the juice, so my guess would be that the acids start extracting the psilocybin from the mushrooms when you mix them. I know some people use cranberry juice to extract psilocybin from mycelium. Since liquids digest faster than solids, maybe you're getting more psilocybin all in one go, rather than a slower release you'd get from digesting solid mushrooms.

Right on the dot. No juice makes you trip harder you only trip harder if you take more/take another drug.

When you grind it up it and put it in the juice. All the goodies are absorbed much faster but it isn't time realesed like regular dry/wet mushrooms where your stomach has to break it down when you poweder it your stomach dosn't have to work as hard.

Hmm, I have drank my powder with non juices(dr. pepper, milkshake, tea) and the trips were less intense than an equal amount done with cranberry does. Orange juice also does not seem to intensify the trip like cranberry, and it is high in acidity. I am fully aware of the differences by drinking powdered shrooms over ingesting them by eating. After speaking with my friend who came up with the idea, he said that he got it from reading a forum about using cranberry to extract psylocybin from liquid mycelium cultures. He reasoned that if it extracts psylocybin in a container, it could do it in your stomach. And since psylocybin is what gets you off, having an extraction reaction going on in your stomach seems to make the trip more intense. I am wondering if anyone has any experience with cranberry specifically, not just powdered vs. ingested. But thanks for the replies, keep em coming.

Well according to google cranberry juice has a pH of 2.3, orange juice is at around 3.7. 2.3 is very acidic in terms of edible food, the only thing more acidic would be lemon juice or lime juice. Hell even vinegar is less acidic than cranberry juice.

Maybe you should try mixing it with lemon juice one time, if you get the same powerful trip you get from cranberry juice then it's probably safe to say the 1.5 pH difference between lemon or cranberry and orange makes a lot of difference.

Course it probably won't be as much fun to drink that much lemon juice =P

Or try putting the powder in pure lemon juice and letting it sit for a few minutes, then dilute it with something else that will make it taste a bit better. Just mix it so when you have the diluted stuff it's roughly the same amount as you'd drink of cranberry juice.

The acidity seems like the only explanation for it.

Your friend is slightly mixed up.

She has her facts put together incorrectly.

First, probably the most common wive's tale about psilocybin containing 'shrooms is: They are toxic. This is false.

The lethal dose for psilocybin containing mushrooms is similar to the lethal dose of portabellas or white button mushrooms. Put simply, they won't kill you before your stomach explodes from eating too many at once.

No psilocybin mushrooms are toxic.

However, your friend is not entirely wrong.

There are toxic mushrooms, and if you went and picked magic shrooms in the wild, and accidentally picked a poisonous shroom... and ate it... you could die of shroom poisoning. If you picked them, and sold them to a friend, you would be selling toxic shrooms.

Then, there are programs like DARE and Just Say No, that just plain lied about the safety of magic shrooms. Mushrooms are poison! The poison makes you trip! This rumor was widely spread. Many people learned it from Cops, at school.

Here's why they could say it.

There is one magic shroom that is poisonous.

Amanita Muscaria

It is a very famous mushroom. It looks like the Super Mario Mushroom... or the Alice in Wonderland mushroom. It is red, with white dots, or yellow and white dots.

Aminitas are toxic. You must cook them correctly before eating and the trip is supposed to be quite different.

The thing is, Aminitas do not contain psilocybin.

So, psilocybin shrooms are not toxic. Not in a quick, easy to detect way, at least.

There simply has not been enough scientific research, but after years of unscientific research, it is quite obvious they are not poison.

They do give you gas...

Thanks for the replies. I admitted to no knowledge of what is actually going on. And any ideas by me or my friends was conjecture for the most part. I will try the lemon/lime idea. Maybe a special glass of homemade lemonade:)

I bet this is the same as with pulverized salvia tea.
when you get the particles fine, and send them into the belly with a big wave of fluid, they are absorbed by flooding much more absorptive tissue surface area much more quickly.

the exact type of fluid itself is probably not very important to this effect, more like surface area reached per minute.

the overall intensity relates to this, the steep ramp of effect relates to this, and the lack of subsidiary mini-peaks also relates to all the finely crushed material being absorbed in a shorter time, instead of little chunks getting processed later on in the digestive process.

  Me and my gf happened to try this method last night.  Cranberry juice is the juice of choice around our house so it was just natural that we mixed our ground shrooms in cran juice. 

  I started this hobby a few months ago and this was our 3rd attempt at tripping.  The first time we dosed we had a feeling of minor euphoria but no visuals whatsoever.  The second time we took what seemed like an equal amount to the first the effects were less than the first to the point of almost being non-existant.  Then last night we did 2.5g dried of ground shrooms.  Wow.  I've done other psycadelics in the past and nothing compared to what we enjoyed last night.  The effects kicked in a very short time (between 10-15 minutes) and intensified very quickly from there.  About an hour into the trip we were peaking and were completely disconnected from reality.  Neither of us had any internal dialouge and every thought we could muster left our mouth.  We laughed and cried, cycled thru every emotion expressing them without any regret.  After about 3 hours of this we started to come down and be more in touch with reality but still tripping balls.  The colors at this point were awesome.  Spirals of psychadelic light, the most perfect purple to blue gradient ever imagined, everything was beautiful whether our eyes were open or closed.  About 6-7 hours after we first dosed we finally both fell asleep and woke up feeling no ill effects from the previous nights events.  Best experience of my life bar none.

  A few things should be noted the first two times we attempted to trip the mushies were of the Lipa Yai strain grown straight BRF cakes and I had nothing to weigh our doses with.  The one's we took last night were of the B+ strain cased and I had a pair of hand scales to weigh our dose.

  Anyway not sure if this helps you with your question but thought I'd share our experience. :grin:

just tried shrooms with cranberry juice last night. about 5-6 gram dry with a big glass of cranberry juice. i don't care what other people tell you, but it was CRAZY. it was the most intense trip for me so far. i was seeing things double. house was spinning. things were going crazy. my friend's face was going crazy. i was peaking for about 2.5 hours. the whole time, i remember keep saying "what the hell is going on". it is recommanded, but also warned if you are not ready for it. fasten seat belt is the right phrase. good luck and be safe.

I've read in multiple places that Grapefruit juice makes you trip harder because it occupies the same enzymes (Psomething enzyme) that break down the psycoactive chemicals. Alot of it is mental conditioning, if you think it'll make you trip harder, it might just happen. Can anybody shed some light on this?

mabey mushrooms just like cranberrys, so when you give the shrooms a little cranberry juice, they are happy, and return the favor by giveing an extra effort in makeing you trip. Seems like a reasonable conclusion to me.

This definitely works.
The acids in fruit juices help metabolize things much quicker than normal, thus, a more potent and shorter trip. Its similar to the effects of grinding them up. When your stomach acids have to do less work, the shrooms can be digested quicker and brought into the blood stream much more efficiently.
Its the same reason you are supposed to give someone fruit juice when they show signs of overdose; the juice helps deplete the drugs faster(even if it intensifies it shortly).

I doubt cranberry makes that much of a difference, but it may help a little. A 6g trip is still a 6g trip.

Well, I still haven't tried lemon or lime yet, but I noticed there has been some replies. I have a circle of 10 friends or so who swear by the cranberry method. It is quite a bit more intense than any other liquids we have combined the powder with to date. It's reasonably easy to give a rough test. Take 6 grams from the same harvest, whether cake or casing. Take 3 grams by eating and 'try' to pay attention to the strength of trip. Wait a few weeks and take the other 3 grams powdered with cranberry. There is no comparison. You can take it a step further and test acidic drinks like fruit drinks against soemthing like Coke. I am thinking it has more to do with the acidity than the fact that you are ingesting it with a liquid. So not only do you get the increased effects of drinking, you get the 'acidic' bonus. It's definitely worth trying, and try not to be too overconfident in your dosing hehe.

Once I try lemon/lime I will update this post. Hopefully in the middle of the month sometime.
