White soft material growing on cake
    #4267865 - 06/07/05 01:14 PM (18 years, 9 months ago)

Ok I birthed my cakes then dunked them overnight, then put in my fruiting chamber. Its been about 4 days now, and on one of my cakes it is growing horns all over the place, like fuzzy myc. peaks all over the cake. I am pretty sure its not pins or anything because when you touch it (sterilized hand) it collapes. What is the cause of this? The temp is a constant 70 - 75 and humidty is 70 percent (I cant get it higher at all, but it might be my gauge because water is on the sides of the container all the time. It looks humid in there lol. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The other cake seems to be doing fine. I rolled after dunking each, and the second cake is becoming just a mass of myc. Hopfully they start to pin soon.

Either Rhizomorphic growth OR cobweb.

Does it look Thick? Or like tiny little hairs?

Might want to dunk (or just wet) and roll.

Sounds like it still has vegtative growth

I am pretty sure that it is myc nearing the primordia/pinning stage...but a pic would help.

That sounds like pin formation to me, for the love of god stop destroying them before they get a chance to grow, lol.

I wish I had a digital camera to take pics to show you. I will explain a little more in detail. I birthed two cakes at once. One cake looks like it has bumps all over it. When i say bumps, i mean like a cottony substance. When you touch it, it just collapses, its kind of see through. Its not a hair like material because its to thick. And someone said Rhizomorphic growth, i don't think it is that because that is strands, unless it is common for the strands to come straight out of the cake, and is like little bumps all over the cake. This jar was wbs. Ok the second cake is brf. and this cake, even though it was dunked then rolled has hardly any verm on it. Its like the cake is solid white, not to spongy not to hard. It must of grown over the verm or I rolled it wrong or something. This cake is a uniform shape no bumps at all. I am sorry I cant be more explanatory, but this is my first grow ever. thank you guys so much for the help

Roadkill not quite because that is like strands, my bumps are no more than 1/4 inch thick at base. Mine dont come to a point like that.

Megadeath its funny that you say that because the strain is Koh Samui thailand strain. Are you serious? Will it be any good if it forms pins, will it even pin?

I should also mention that I made a serious newbie mistake when injecting the cakes. The bumpy cake i injected the whole 12 cc syringe into it. It took two weeks before i even say any growth, but once it did, it was very strandy and colonized the whole cake in like 5 days.

sounds like you are describing what one of my cakes looks like Prefloppro. I know the myc gets like that right before pin formation, only thing is this one cake of mine has been like this for almost a week with no pins, and it is the only cake of mine that wasn't dunked and rolled in verm for the 2nd flush (first grow I am experimenting). I am going to dunk and roll mine if it doesn't pin soon.

Upon closer inspection, i think i may have one pin directly on the top of the cake. Its a different kind of white and its a bump and its not spongy. When i touched it with a sterized spoon it was hard, and when i looked at at again, the point where i touched it turned a little blue, hopfully i did not fuck it up.
