A Warrior chooses

" A warrior chooses a path with heart, any path with heart, and follows it; and then he rejoices and laughs. He knows because he sees that his life will be over altogether too soon. He sees that nothing is more important than anything else."
Any one but me believe this?

A warrior kills other people; that is his job else he would be called something else.

I disagree. I am a warrior of life. I fight for my right to be a free thinking man. I fight against my programming and those who would program me further. I fight for Love.

There are higher levels of war than the physical.. People can be warriors on a spiritual level, and a political level, people can even be metaphysical warriors, or wage war against unhappiness. A warrior is one who ages war, it depends entirely on what war you are fighting whether you kill people or not..

My guess, Judging by the action of the warrior don Juan talks about in Castaneda's books compared to our modern warrior; is that the original Native word was mistranslated into English as warrior, although in reality it had a much different definition.

^---- That seems a likely candidate for what the orignal definition may have been

you don't have to fight, it is pretty easy, just takes the right approeach. You know how motor cilinders slide with ease when they are put right, but if you don't put them at the right angle it is a pain to get them in. That is how human psychology works too, you don't need to fight that which is inside of you

I also agree with you, even more so. But I know where I am in my personal evolution. I use the word fight and it works for me.

A warrior doesn't necessarily kill people, he just fights. Fighting often will lead to killing, but not always.
The fight is what matters to people using it as an analogy. Some see life as one long struggle against hands both visible and invisible, against corrupt systems and time itself. Why do we consider life a fight? Because we are used to fighting.

Well, I think it's the climax of a warrior's life that is often a fight, that's what he prepares himself for. So in preparation for his defining struggle, the warrior learns and trains and skills himself, in Castaneda's case he walks and collects herbs and erases personal history, etc. all in expectation that he may need to fight at any time. He has to be ready to seize his one cubic centimeter of chance.
