FREEDOM OF SPEECH

Where has our basic right to communicate gone?
Now even the shroomery, as open as it was, no longer allows freedom of speech.
A thread was recently opened in the pub about reading the rules, it was locked instantly. I've had many threads deleted/locked my-self, often, for petty personal issues with the mod!
It seriously fucking saddens me, to think nobody even cares. Its the same as the USA scenario. The government builds a prison all around us while we indulge in gorging and lusting ourselves like ignorant pigs.
I brought this subject up before and the other shroomery members said I was whining and complaining. Your darn right this is a complaint. Its a complaint that, for me, carries a most seriouse philosophical debate.
* * * * * I would like to see the mods justify their reasons for locking and deleting threads that query them and their policy.
How can you believe it is correct that you should not be queried?
Is this not how people learn?
Why do the shroomery moderators hide anything that questions their power? * * * * *
GREED TO MAINTAIN THAT POWER, THE SAME AS THE US GOVERNMENT
What is this an open minded website or nazi germany?
Note to mods: Yes I expect you to delete this thread too.

I agree that reasons should be available to all for any action taken by the Mods.
I myself have had PMs to mods ignored.
Any thing done in secret is done for a reason and that usually is to protect oneself from the responsibility of ones actions and the fallout that would ensue.
I really haven't had much problem with Mods and think many are great. But I'm not much in the other forums. Thanks for bringing the topic up. I want to know more about this.

Yeah there was nothing wrong in my thread, just some harmless discussion. Someone had to go get all butt-hurt though about nothing.
There is no such thing as Freedom of Speech.

Please explain what you mean? You drop little comments and often I'm not understanding you for sure. I don't want to assume anything.

i mean, complaining about your lack of freedom of speech on a site designed to facilitate a discourse about illegal drugs?
if you think a mod locking your thread is an infraction on your liberty, then you dont know what liberty is and surely dont deserve it.

That statement is clearly subjective to your personal opinion.
You do not have the right to say he/she doesn't deserve liberty.
How do you discern this from merely a few words on the Internet?

I've just read this and LMAO when questioned for clarification of the logic of banning the mod eventually replies with a load of spiel about a personal vendetta with the poster!
The thread is also LOCKED DOWN!

I agree with Doom on this one. The fact that you can freely discuss on a worldwide level about the use, love, and growing of an illegal substance is a sure sign of my freedom of speech. I have never had a Mod lock any of my threads. The only threads I have ever seen you post were rants about how much the Mods suck and how your freedom of speech is being trampled upon. This website probably costs a lot of money to maintain, and whatever authority the owners of this website have given to the Mods is their choice to do so. Go walk into a bar somewhere and start talking shit about the bouncers to their face and see how fast you get thrown out. There are more civil and better ways to go about getting your "message" and point across than picking a fight with the authority.

OK I see what you're saying. What you're saying is a matter of degree. So closing down a thread without giving reason is minor. Still why not give a reason? If I'm a bouncer and someone asked why I bounced them I can say, because I want to. That tells you where they're coming from. The Mods could do the same. I remember hearing about Swami being shut down. If someone hadn't said, what the fuck, it would have stood without question.

In the last week, there have been at least two warnable offenses in personal attacks against me (no, not you jiggy). If I had said the specific comments, I would have been banned in a heart-beat.
Basically, it is not what you say, but whom the target is.

Well duur to you because some of us like to think in a 3rd person perspective or for the benefit of everybody not just oneself.

yeah, your such a freedom fighter, and just soooooo selfless in your threads about how YOU are being limited and opressed. Who are you to say what is beneficial for everybody? is that not another form of opression and facism? trying to decide based on your morals, ethics and beliefs what is a beneficial thing for all? get over yourself.

Freedom of speech? HA!
Freedom of speech has no, that is zero, bearing on a place such as The Shroomery.
Do you pay for the servers?
Do you pay for the bandwidth?
Do you program the software?
Do you keep the hardware running, and up to date?
Do you pull sleepless nights off at the server farm, just to make sure people (like you) even HAVE a Shroomery to post on?
This is not a country. You do not live here. The Shroomery, and its staff, have zero control over your life beyond these pages. Thus they are not limiting you in freedom of speech.
This is a private website, owned and operated privately. If you don't like the rules, you can always go to another site, or make your own.
As far as posting in The Pub about rules...something a lot of people (who tend to bitch a lot) seem to forget is that there is a specific forum for website feedback/comments/questions. Try posting your concerns in there, and you might get a better response...instead of making off-topic posts in a forum where they aren't meant to be.
