there are some types of boletes that stain blue and are poisonous..GGreatone is a little more informed in that area though..to my knowledge anything that has psilocybe characteristics and stains blue is good..you should do a little research on what to look for in a psilocybe.also there are mushrooms in other familys that are psychoactive like the paneleous or copelandia...there is a thing on the shroomery that i have heard of called mapping the mycelial network that would tell you what species are where..but i have never used it so i dont know how accurate it is..a good site to visit for research is mjshroomer.yage.net good luck

i also reside in vermont. the south side actually. we have common psilocybe and dung loving psilocybe i know for a fact because i have found them. those are the only ones i myself have found around though. the best advice i could give you is get yourself a copy of the audubon mushroom field guide and head for the nearest farm! good luck I hope i have been of some assistance.
