You wont find cubensis growing wild in CA.

Thats not true. They have been found a few times up highway 1, on the way to san fransisco.

SOD: They probably could be found... but, 99.99999999999999999% of the time yoiu can assume that cubensis wont be growing in california.

I found a few that I believe were cubensis growing on cow shit, that bruised blue, and very closely if not perfectly matched the description of a cube. I didn't eat them to find out, but they definately looked like cubes.

i would say hypholoma fasiculare, the greyish purple print and slightly orange base would aggree with me also.
i which case they are poisonous.
