Naw, these we call Green Gills,
Because if you eat them you will be puking your guts out,
And because the spore color of this mushroom is Green.

If you want to talk all technical,
These are Chorophyllum molybdites.

I've found these before. It's a Conocybe species and yes, they will make you sick! Projectile diarrhea!

Sorry to disrupt your think8ng process but they are Chlorophyllum Molybdites, or as GGreatOne234 says 'green gills, and/or Morgan's Lepiota. They are not a member of the genera Conocybe. They generally cause nausea and vomiting and severe stomach cramps.

They are veryt common in the SE USA and are the number one accidently eaten mushroom by people looking for PSilocybe cubensis. Which really look nothing like the images Our good friend posted above. The gills are white in the young specimens sometimes resembling a deadly Amanita in their early stages. As they age the gills turn a drab green color. That should tell you not to pick and eat them

One of my tenant's cats ate alot of one. I'm not sure of their effects on the GI tracts of cats, but Im sure it isnt going to be eating more...

I have logged in this once so that I can set the "last seen" feature up.  let the faggots flow forth into OTD and have it.  Its funny how they all grew nuts after I left.  I'm not here, I'm not reading, but I urge you all to keep melting down over me.  I know, I hurt alot of people, and they deserved it.  epic win for me, epic fail for you.

I see the GreenGills everyday of the year here in Florida.

They grow in lawns and also grow from a few different types of mulch.

It is not uncommon to see a couple hundred of them in a patch,

But i had never actually witnessed such a large ring,
as you can see in the photo above,
the ring is at least 15 in diameter.

Nice photos. Oddly enough, I have a mushroom ID book in which the author states that they can eat these without getting sick. Don't try that at home boys and girls. Chlorophyllum molybdites is responsible for more poisonings in the US than any other species of mushroom.

A teenage girl died in Whibey Island, Washingon in 1982 (X-mas Day) after she and two 16-year-old boys ate Galerina autumnalis, mistaking it for Psilocybe stuntzii. They did not report their illness for three days becasue they thought they would be prosecuted for eating magic shrooms. She died after 6 days and the two kids have been on dialysis ever since.

That is a cruel statement to make and it shows ignorance on your part for making such a lame statement.

And the same goes to Mickey Rourke, ( I actually have met the real Mickey Rourke, who by they way, happens to have actually eaten shrooms and I doubt that he would appreciate your suporting statement of Remy when using his name as an ephihet.

Shame on both of you.

I was pretty drunk when i made this statement, but what I meant was that people who just eat a mushroom because it looks similar to a hallucinogenic mushroom, without proper identification deserve to be taught a lesson. The poisoning from these is severe nausea, vomitting, etc. Thats enough to teach somone a valuable lesson, which would lead to somone actually doing some research, and actually learning something about mushrooms. Galerina is a completely different story, and I could see how even an educated hunter could be mistaken, especially when these show up in the same patch as psilocybes. Anyway, since my statement is offensive, ill remove it, cause its not really something I would have normally written anyways.

I mean Cubes are called Goldcaps for a reason. Aint nothin golden in those pictures. I have also seen these before at the UF campus and the size they grow to can be quite impressive. I've seen them 4-5 inches wide at the cap.

I see these all the time down here in Ft Laud. Always in parks though, right after a good rain.
They do get huge as someone noted. Not quite frisbee size but a good 6-8 inches.

You should realize that the majority of people who hunt mushrooms are not looking to get high. Most of them are looking for food. Chlorophyllum molybdites is common, large, meaty, smells and tastes good, and easy to mistake for an edible Lepiota. And there have been a very few fatalities from eating it - rare and unusual, but they have happened.

I don't imagine that anybody has ever eaten them thinking they had found a psychedelic. If I could help prevent somebody from eating them, I would be pretty happy about that.

I was refering to the comment about people mistaking these for Psilocybe Cubensis. I could easy see how one could confuse these with Lepiotas, but not cubes.
