HELP! QuicK Identification Needed !!!

I haven't mowed my back lawn in almost a month and next to one of my huge pine trees I found a group of these mystery mushrooms. When broken they do stain a definate blue. I mean like turns blue right away when broken and bruise blue when squeesed. I took a medium sized mushroom with a top diameter of about 2 inch. The cap is like halp of an egg (half of an oval) and is brown with a bright yellow - yellow sponge gill. The bottom stalk or stem is about 3 inches long. The stalk or stem is brown and has a shade of white at the bottom. Does anyone know what kind of mushroom this could be. The thing that makes me think of this as a "Magic Mushroom" is the fact that they definetly stain blue. I live in the northeast. If you could give me your opinion on what type of mushroom this might be id really apreciate it. Thanx.

In reply to:
sponge gill
My guess would be a Bolete = inactive. I don't have much experience with boletes. Some are edible and some are poisonous. Do some research and you will probabaly be able to locate pics of similar specimins.
Peace to Everyone

Yes ive looked at some online sites and have found it it is probably in the Bolete family. Are there any mushrooms in this family that would produce visuals? Why does it turn blue, does that mean there is psilcobyian in it. As you can see I am a newbie to the mushroom world and very cautious though I have read a little bit about magic mushrooms and have always wanted to try them. Thanks a lot for your help so far.

Well while you're crying, try reading up on what type of mushrooms to look for in your area, if you can see though all your tears.

Yup, you have a bolete. None of them are active. Some are edible (among the best), some are poisonous. In general, the poisonous ones have red or orange tubes or tube mouths, bruise blue, or both. So there is a good chance that your bolete will make you sick if you eat it. There are edible blue staining boletes, but you should get some more experience identifying them before you start eating the more difficult to identify mushrooms.

Just this last may i found some blue staining boletes. I was about to use them in a chicken and rice meal, when I found them infested with mushroom maggots. So it was a no dice on the eating.

I find those a lot in this state. (at least what you described) - sponge gills, stains blue real fast...
When I first came across a patch of them years ago I had high hopes too.
