LoL... sounds like A. muscaria var. formosa to me. Most people report having mad stomach problems/vomiting/neasua when they eat them. If you're looking to try Amanitas, go for the blood red ones, A. muscaria var. muscaria.
Peace out, -Gumby

I have a theory that they grow throughout the southeast where conditions are favorable for them to fruit, I bet they're much more wide spread than currently known, it's just that people are not searching for them in other states because of lack of information.

I hold this belief as well but hunters in SC will shout you down about it because they can't find them

Like ghostly said seneca s.c. ive read that they were also found in alabama. I would imagine its due to a lack of hunters. But if they grow in Mexico. And are all over north and some parts south of Atlanta. They can be found and quite positive they are. With thorough searching. I just find it impossible for them to not be all over the southeast. Just need to look.

You are correct, you can't find them if you are not looking, you also need to know what you are looking for. I am surrounded by shrooms! Just gotta figure out the bad from the good... (I bet I have found some good ones, just cannot tell it yet)

Dude. My last reply to this was 14 years ago. I don't even live in the Southeast anymore. Maybe just make a new post?
