there is no such thing as bad music becuase music is an expression of the soul what you may find distastefull other may feel otherwise hell other may feel that particular music in general helped them through alot of rough times but saying that music or a certain type of music sux is just close minded and ignorant..i may not dig rap so much but i like some hip hop out there that dosent mean im gunna say fuck all rap....
unless the band is canned and just there to make money I.E GC sum41 blink 182...fuck them

itleast someone gets me here. Im just speaking from a musical point of view.

I liek Country,Rap,Bluegrass,Jazz,Rock,Psychedelic and most of all those subgenres of the latter.Punk is the only one i truly dislike.
Its a style of music that has been perverted. Punk originally started out to be a sound almost a fast form of blues or late 50s rock. Listen to bands like MC5 who paved the way for that. Ramones are another band like that.

The clash were pretty decent, but when Sex pistols started playing they just ruined the whole scene. Anybody who lives their lifestyle by the music they listen to needs to expand their mind.

Its just commercialized drivel almost like most music genres have become today.

you only get polular if you want to they must have been aiming to get to the MTV level..and what is the point of that....?? there is none that is selling out they knew what they where getting into...i have heard alot of early blink and granted yes it was pretty good but it still sounded like MTV pop imo..

Good song writing hasnt been really popular today. Most songwriters write a song to pay for their swimming pool. Than write another song to pay off their Ferrari.

Music just doesnt come from the heart nowadays. Dont even try to compare new music to 70 or 60s music and that time period. It was a magical time when people threw off the commericialization of music and actually had out-of-the-box music.

But once again by 1969 the record companies got into the song writing and only music that sells is good. You are bombed everyday with music that you are forced to like. The same song is played 10 times a day on the radio.

Teen rebellion is sold too stupid kids who gobble it up likes its gospel. All their doing is making money of people who think their rebelling.

Its complete and utter bullshit.

first of all dont generalize what i said. You have no right to accuse me of generalizing me when you generalize rap. Of course ill use what i said in my previous post to back it up.

Most of new music (all genres) put out today is commercialized drivel. The local rap scene around Atlanta is excellent.

That's silly, what could possibly cause people in general to lose the ability to make great music?

There is tons of extremely inventive and brilliant music being played today, it just isn't necessarily the stuff you get exposed to all the time. If you see it out, you'll find some great stuff.

Try cbcradio3.com, for example. You'll get a good stream of some very interesting, very good, all new music.

There was a lot of crap being put out in the 60's and 70's as well though. A lot of it just got forgotten with time because it was forgettable. And some of the forgettable stuff still sticks around... but becomes a "classic" after a certain point.
