Environment vs. Pinning..

Ok well you see, I had my 1st flush & was totally pleased. The shrooms are Thai-Koh-Samui.. the substrate is a DB 15 gal kit. W/ the 1st flush, the kit was left outside in SW florida, in perm. shade. It was great [ @ 4 dry oz. ].. seemed to use the space pretty well.. After the flush, I took a fork and kinda mixed up the surface.. and put it back in the windowless shed where I colonized it for @ 2 days. Then I put it back outside for a few days... then decided to bring it inside to experiment how the shrooms turn out in the AC. Anyway.. inside is @ 74 degrees. The pins started yesterday.. although seem MUCH slower at growing, don't use the space so well, & are growing mostly on the sides... there is only one really large cluster, based in the side middle, when during the 1st flush, there were at least three large clusters of shrooms.. Is it better to leave them outside ?? Would it have been a smart idea to not even disturb the surface? Would it have been better to not put them back in the dark for 2 days? Is it this particular strain that seems to do better in the hot + humid? To me.. it just feels better leaving them outside in their natural environment.. and makes me a lil' nervous when they're indoors and its dry + cool. Nesta

Since it's colder inside, growth slowed down and decreased. Outside was hotter. Also, since it's your second flush, you shouldn't expect to see as many shrooms as there were on the first flush.

Second flushes are usually not as good as the first, so thats why you have fewer mushrooms. And the cooler temps are probably what is keeping the mushrooms growing slowly.

HA! I was under the impression that colder weather initiates/promotes pinning & that the 2nd flush is the biggest.

Your second flush may have bigger shrooms, just less in numbers.

Cold shocking is thought to initiate pinning, but the temp should be brought back up after pinning starts. Colonising, pinning, and fruiting have different ideal environments.
