Braveheart Bush
    #3684254 - 01/26/05 05:09 PM (19 years, 2 months ago)

Bush tells the Iraqi people not to fear the terrorists; to stand up and courageously vote regardless of the danger. This from the man that had a record 11,000(!) police and soldiers protecting him during the inauguration in his own country.

If we all could only be that brave.

On another note, Bush tells the American people not to fear the loss of another $80 billion dollars (funneled to brother-in-law corporations) and another few thousand of our boys dead. "Hey, the money won't come out of my pocket and none of my privileged family will be among the dead and wounded, so I have no problem with the deepening morass in which I have ensconced America."

The proof is in the pudding.

Money will come out of Bush's pocket as he pays a substantial amount of taxes. Also, accept it or not, he is the President of the United States, I think that it pretty widely accepted to be the most important person alive, regardless of whether or not one likes him.

and you somehow don't think the irqi's are going to be protected by police and soldiers at their polling places? also President Bush's protection was probably warranted since there are a lot of people who don't like (many conregate(sp) here), all those soldiers and police were there and nothing happened just like they hoped.

Huh? What does my thinking have to do with it? All one has to do is read the daily news in which Iraqi police are killed, polling sights are bombed and those encouraging the vote have their throat's slit.

WTF? Why does that change anything? If there were daily car-bombings in Chicago like there are in Baghdad, don't you think that might have some effect on the outcome of an election?

I see, he only gets money from his salary. Do you know he made his fortune offf the backs of taxpayers who paid for his (portion of) a baseball stadium which he sold for $50 million?

*sigh* Do a search of the Archives where I predicted Halliburton (and other powerful assoicates) would get the lion's share of the Iraqi contracts about ONE YEAR before the NO-BID contracts were "awarded" and long before Moore's expose.

Also note my last two threads on the Iraqi election were almost completey ignored by Bush supporters. Bush (and Kerry) have spent untold millions and at least 6 months campaigning, but what Iraqis other than the puppet, Allawi, have done any noticeable campaigning? How can this be a "real" election when the candidates are only know in small locales? Someone please name the top five candidates without doing a Google search. How can anyone besides Allawi possibly win, even if the vote is totally "fair"?

And what is up with Iraqi-Americans being able to vote for an Iraqi leader?

sure it will effect the outcomes in those areas, but it will have little effect in the areas where that shit doesn't happen. just because you don't know where towns are in relation to the rough areas doesn't mean that the locals don't

Bush: "The notion somehow we're not making progress I just don't subscribe to."

A record number of Americans and Iraqi civilians dead in one day is certainly "progress", of a sort...

What? Do actually fucking read this shit you're saying? You honestly have no problem with voters in Baghdad being scared away from the polls so long as other locales are not?

you don't know who they are because they aren't campaigning here, they are trying to get elected in iraq not USA. the populace knows who wants to represent them. the word gets to them, they have newspapers, tv, radio, flyers. also keep in mind that there are 200 plus political entities trying to get people elected.

Do you HONESTLY believe that anyone other than the American-backed Allawi has even a remote chance?

First of all, Baghdad is NOT a small area. It's about the size of Los Angeles. Second, the other areas(which are much less populated, btw) are irrelevant in this discussion. That's like complaining about the media focusing on the L.A. riots by saying they're not focusing on all the areas in the US that aren't rioting. How did you manage to pass grade school?

So it appears you are unable or unwilling to answer a very simple and direct question and instead choose to obsfucate.
