I've been reading about it, including that site, since it was brought up years ago.
-------------------- You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for that my dear friend is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it. ~ Adrian Rogers

I looked at some pictures last week of bush's visit...strange how none of them were outside where you could see that he was in iraq. All those soldiers just look sooooo happy he's there, it just seems a little off to me...
I seriously hope they wouldn't stage such a visit, but if someone finds a pic with him outside of what could be a prop, pls post it....i won't hold my breath.

Maybe it's because the men who are risking their livesevery day over there see that we are making a difference?

What a nincompoop. Ask the thousands of Iraqi's that are getting humanitarian aide instead of having a dictator keep them starving while he got rich what they think. Pretty stupid picture too, Leary didn't support nations keeping people suffering and starving, did he?

No he didn't. He also wouldn't have supported spending billions apon BILLIONS of dollars(not to mention human life) on trying to free *cough*bullshit*cough* just one of the many countries who have starving and oppressed people. If we invaded a country that didn't happen to have lots of oil you might have some credibiltiy.

I'm definitely not saying that.
I'm saying that the US government might not care about the Iraqi people quite as much as they say they do. It's a crazy idea, I know, but still.
I have a feeling the government cares for the Iraqi people about as much as the people they imprison for using illegal drugs.

That certaintly isn't a flame, is it Azmo old boy? I think that one could argue that we have an obligation to go into nations and liberate their people. I also think that one could argue "To hell with them", and not care about them at all. I personally would be much happier with an isolationist position, but it isn't something we can do overnight. My belief is that, while in the area, why not clean out some other nations?

Unfortunately no.

Do you now?! Then argue it with me. I say the only ppl eligable to 'liberate' themselves are the people being oppressed, unless the aggression is from a neighboor, in which other bordering countries should play a role.
Never! not once in the history of humanity has an outside power, come in, investing large resources soley for the liberation of oppressed people and out of the goodness in thier hearts.
However!, such pretenses have been used tiime and time again to justify thier occupation and to assimilate the said ppl into a unified area with its 'liberators' benefiting in more ways than one with the mindset of 'recovering' the costs of the inital invasion.....and easing thier conscience as the new exploitation continues.
ps- you can start a new thread if you care...
