whats with jars??

I was growing and decided that i was gonna try to pull this out of my ass...
all i did was put vermiculite and brf in a tupperware bowl with water and microwave it...immediately when it was done as fast as i could i pulled it out..put tin foil on the lid and waited for it to cool down...when it did i poked holes in the foil and squirted spores all over the top and put tape over the holes.
i waited about 3 days and checked inside and there was mycelium growth all over the top...i placed the bowl in a humidification chamber and shure enough it worked in no time at all......so whats with the jars??? do you just get bigger flushes if you use substrait jars??

I think i spotted some contams the other day...either that or darker mycelium...anyway i got a spoon and scooped out the miscolored spot..(really light shade of gray)
and i can see pinning!!
ill let you know how that goes

This is me method...
Put 2 cups vermiculite and 1/4 cup brf in tupperware bowl
add enough water so that the mixture hold its form when squeezed but doesnt drip .
microwave 1 min. then stir...microwave an additional 1-2 min.
immediatley when it is done...before it even has time to stop
take it out and cover the top with tin foil..IMMEDIATLEY!!
then wait for it to cool down...doesnt mater how long just till its cool.....then poke holes in top with syringe and squirt the spores inside...(i did my holes in tryangle form moving syringe around so it squirts everywere)..then cover holes.
i waited 1 week and took the tim foil off and put the bowl in a humidification chamber.....then all you do is wait.
i had good results

tell me, what % of the substrate was colonized when you stuck it in the humidification chamber?
and by humidification chamber do you mean an average humid terrarium?

also, how many ml's of spores did you use, 2 cups and 1/4 cup is hardly more than one jar of substrate.....

Kind of a crude, ghetto tek but no reason why it shouldn't work. It makes no difference to the shrooms what they are growing in. As long as you can keep things clean, you can grow them in tin cans or plastic buckets. Jars are just a little easier to handle, to sterilize, etc.

Yeah, your procedure is exactly like the "fast food" tek... The problem with this tek is that contams are more likely to take over... You just got lucky.
