packed jars too tight?
    #399189 - 09/20/01 01:56 PM (22 years, 7 months ago)

I think my friend has packed his jars too tight. It has been one week and there is no sign of growth. Used 3 cc's per innoc point. Wondering what we can do, or how long it will take if they're pact too tight. Thanks

i'm assuming your talking about half pint pf tek stuff. 3 cc's per innoc point? god damn that is a lot. If you packed them too tight it will take much longer to colonize, but if you did use 3cc's per jar that *may* offset slow colonization. could you offer up some mroe details?

Yes, she's using tasmanian print
they aRE 1/2 pnt jars, and a heating pad set on medium directly underneath the jars, which are in a the original jar box
there is no light

Yeah your jars are probably getting way too hot, but also 3cc per innoculation hole is quite much, your jars could be waterlogged, I try not to use more than 1-2cc per JAR, not per HOLE, and thats for honey water and spores.

How long did your friend wait after sterliiztion before innoculation? That could defintely be a source of trouble.
