Damn! Thassa Tight Cake!

Yo dogs! I was chillin at da crib an birthin' some fine cakes las night when much to my suhprise da lil mofos held on tight in da jars an refused to come out no mattah how hawd I smacked em! Damn but I was sore from all dat smackin! Then I gots me a fork and tried to anchor da fork deep in da cake, sos to pull it out ai-ight? But da cakes broke an flew out an landed on de carpet which I had not had da foresight to sterilize y'all if ya know what I'm sayin. My lame-ass query? Why dem cakes so t-i-i-i-ght? And hows I get em all loose n jiggly?

been there done that. Mine didn't land on the carpet though. I put them in the glovebox, gave it a lysol back and tapped with a sterile hammer and shattered the glass. Shit happens... Rice expands. Dont pack them in so tight next time. Also make sure the jars you are using are not tapered. You might be able to save your culture with some agar but its probably easier to just use more spores.

by the way, if you are using fine vermiculite, throw that shit out. coarse doesn't pack as tightly

Yeah, I use the coarse stuff but now that I think about it the tight jars were probably made with the finer stuff that accumulates at the bottom of the bag. All the cakes in the other jars (like 3 dozen) slid out alright. thanks for the help...
