I'm new to growing mushrooms and i was wondering if this growth is normal or not.

Whoa. That looks like some fuzzed up primordia that aborted or something. I can't even tell. For some reason in the bottom picture that looks like a mushroom that began invitro or something...

Yeah I was thinking the same thing too...that totally looks like a mutated ass abort or some shit. Although I have to admit I've never seen anything quite like it before, so chances are your guess is as good as mine. Whatever it is though, I'd suggest plucking that bitch and forgetting it ever existed. (the cake still looks healthy, so I doubt it's a contam or something...but again, that's just my opinion)

it might be contamination of some sort,mold or something .

a few of my cakes I still havent removed from the incubation chamber that are still in jars are doing the same thing less the bluing... Kinda like sclerotia or something... very strange I agree

Huh. Thas really odd lookin all right. Looks like a couple of aborts packed tight in a fluffy cocoon. Maybe wait a couple of days and see if they 'hatch' eh? Otherwise I'd do like the fella says and send it to hell asap!

I've seen this before in PF cakes on perlite. They were huge fungus blobs that I decided to let grow. After I figured they were big enough, I cut em off and cut em open. Turns out, they were huge fungus blobs. Yum. Safe. Cheers.
