Storing the Jars

After I innoculate 12 jars I leave them in the box they came in closed and in my closet till I check them a few weeks later. I was wondering if anyone had any better suggestions as this seems to take forever. I'm using metal lids on 1/2 pint jars with 4 holes for knocking them up.
Shit... If anything is worth doing, it's worth doing right.

thants exactly what your supposed to do. Leave them in a dry, dark place. Unless you're growing invitro, this is the best way to do it, IMO.

Use filter discs to increase air exchange. Also shaking the jars 5 days after you see growth re-distributes the mycelium thus making it colonize faster. - C

i put my in a rubbermaid container keeping it about 80 degrees, this helps them colonize faster, i time it with a heating pad.

Just make sure they are in a WARM closet. Low 80's. Cooler temps will take longer.

Place the ones with MM filter discs in a humidified enviornment or they will dry out most likely(I found this out the hard way). In the future I'd place the metal jar lid rubber seal up back over the top of the filter discs after innoculation. Shouldn't need any extra humidity for them that way and it should stop them from drying out.

Then what would be the point of using the filter discs, other than for innoculation?

For added protection especially when doing other teks besides PF without a dry vermiculite top layer.

just put them in a rubbermaid container, the humidity just from minor dry out in there is about 70% its doing fine though, keep them in an incubation chamber, its worth it trust me.
