what's in my sporeworks syringe?
    #362502 - 07/28/01 12:13 PM (22 years, 1 month ago)

Someone just recieved a sporeworks puerto rican syringe, in a very timely manner (3 days with paypal).
it is very clouded with spores, and also what appears to be a gelatinous blob of something. it looks alot like a jelly fish with purple spores stuck all over it.
What *is* it? Is it mycelium suspended in the water? Have the spores somehow germinated in the spore solution?
Help would be great.

~Sandanista

Perhaps a small piece of agar was used to lift spores from a print to prepare your syringe. The sporeworks guys could probably tell you for sure. They're pretty quick w/ email replys.

The spores are germinating in the syringe. They are not shipped out like that but I am guessing that because of the heat during shipping they are starting to grow. Its not a real problem since the syringe should work fine. But it is something we want to prevent to increase syringe longevity, microscopy usefulness and even spore dispersal during injection.
