has anyone tried/had success with just brying their old cakes and casings in their backyard or some other promising spot?

What if you live in the mid-west. It's not very humid here like in florida. Will the shrooms still grow. Could I throw them in some compost outside in the shade, like under a porch.

I crumbled cakes and put them into compost outside. They are watered by my sprinklers.

I too live in the midwest, and right now we are having a little bit of a drought. The cakes are growing through the compost very well, they are in the shade and surrounded by some native grasses and a few hops vines.

In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud, Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed.
