cake/casing tek?

My friend's playstation went out and bought vermiculite planning on casing her cakes but my grandmother's nintendo convinced her not to try casing on her first go at growing mushrooms....so my goldfish's sega had the idea that since she didn't have the money to buy some perlite to humidify the plastic baseballs that will house the cakes (pics soon), she could put some wet verm in the bottom and place a cake on top and have a sort of casing/cake goin on (she knows that it's not going to turn out to be a casing it's just going to provide the cake with some moisture).... so what my friends playstation wants to know is this. 1. will it get contams? 2. how much water (and h2o2?) should be added to each cup of vermiculite? and 3. will it provide adequate humidity without misting?

1 Not if you take precautions; Be clean! Dont play with it!
2 25mL of H2O per 1/2 cup of verm. substitute h202 here as much as you want
3 it will provide humidity but i cant tell you if it will be adequate, work with whatever comes up. id reccomend misting the inside of these balls after every time you open them, which shouldnt be often right? save up your cans and turn them in for a bag of perlite, its cheap. good luck!

dude, what R U talking about? if yer putting verm in the bottom of your tank like U would do perlite, your doomed bro. U don't want to do that, and it won't provide adequit humidity, Oh God, your going to have the biggest mess on your hands,
