I believe that I read they loose potency after the veil breakage.
But as far as total stopping the production of psyl I dunno abaout that 1!!!!! :mushroom2: :confused:

I don't think their have been any studies on this, so it's just personal opinion. A lot people ask this and it never gets answered, because noone can back up what they say.

From the majority of what I have read, after the veil breaks the production of psylocin and psylosybin (sp?) "slows down" after the veil breaks and the mushroom starts dropping spores. At this point in the life cycle it uses more resources to take on mass rather than produce these chemicals. I haven't seen any actual scientific research on this anywhere but it seems to be the popular theory.

From what I read I would have to disagree but I also think it would be hard to tell the differance just by eating them.I've had just as good of trips from caps I made spore prints from.

It slows down but it doesn't stop until you pick them, that's when they gradually stop. Common sense? maybe not. But it's all an intersting Theory.

I'd say you should harvest within 24 hrs after 90% of them have dropped thier veils. Just my opinion though.

Well a dose of 1/8 small-right after the viel breaks shrooms would be stronger than 1/8 of full grown ones.

Yes same strain and all of that.

Also wouldn't the flushed be bigger if you cut them then, becuase it would eat up less of the cake producing shroom matter?

not always true but could be but you dont want the caps open to drop spores all over the rest of yoru caseing or cakes or what ever that will stop or slow the second flush i have had shrooms that were way over ripe and they were potant as fuck i have also seen some that were only like 1/2" tall closed caps that were just as potant the point is that a human mind isnt fine tuned enough  to tell the very very very little differance it would make

If the veil isn't there, then the gills are exposed and are capable of dropping spores, I think.

At least, I don't see any reason why not.

I like to let them grow until they are a bit more flat. Then they're a good size and I can eat them and trip out.
