Harvest as soon as the viel breaks?

Should I harvest as soon as I realize the viel is broken, or wait any length of time? Thanks! :smile:

The bottom line is that there is no evidence that the veil has any relevance to potency or alkaloid production - i harvest either way and have never ever noticed a difference.
why not just wait and pick them at their best - at maturity.

Ya spores don't contain any alkaloids, there just haploid reproduction cells so i never understood how that would affect potency.

I am wondering when the viel breaks and when the shroom is fully mature and drops spores what happens? Anything special? Cause I was reading a grow log and the dude said he didn't want the spores to drop and make a mess.... ?

I say it just doesn't matter all that much.. I think that if you eat 3 grams of mushrooms that were not grown to maturity.. there would be more mushrooms to eat, compared to 3 grams of matured mushrooms... but the difference in weight between the comparison just doesn't make a difference.

The only real difference is in weight/mass. And even then, there's not much of a difference.
