Questions for a Psilocybe Cyanescens Transplant
    #3329237 -

I looked through the FAQs and used the search function but it didn't answer my questions..

If one was to transplant compost from a cyan patch that already has pins growing on it, how can he keep those pins growing and get the most out of that mulch for THIS season? Then, after the final flush, how should the mycelium be stored in preparation for the spring?

I heard it was good to cover it with leaves and put carboard under it, then water it 3 times a day with distilled water. Is all that true? Could it be kept indoors or is that too warm for cyans?

thanks!

Transplanting cyan myclium this late in the season I'm almost postive you won't see another flush due to the shock. If you transplant it now, dig about a 5-6" trench and make a mix of woodchips, 1x1" pieces of carboard, and some potting soil, soak this for about a day, layer it in the trench with myclium, and cover with either fresh alder, maple, or any other young hardwood branches. Keep moist throughout spring, watering in dry spells. During the summer keep moist, but don't flood it. In fall, if the myclia is growing strong (it should be) place more hardwood woodchips on the patch. The myclia should rip through the mix, and the fruits will be abundant for years, if you just add more woodchips to the top, or expand the patch in spring.

This is what I do and have gotten good results.

Currently I'm attempting an experiment to take myclium chunks from a semi-cultivated patch and placing them in plastic baggies with wet cardboard. Once the cardboard is fully colonized I will use it as spawn to woodchips, then place outdoors to coldshock in spring. With luck I may get fruits, if not I plan on making more patches using the trays as a spawn.

Hope this helps.
