Well thinking it over, searching it some more my cat has desided to try some Pan Cyans before P. cyans.....

Why not grow out a batch or Orissa?
Or go to a similar strain but an exotic?

I dont know what all the fuss about psilocybe cyanescens is - once you are using agar, they are easier than cubensis to colonise.
Cubensis require substrates high in nutrients which means that in order to fruit cubies you need to avoid contamination on substrates that prone to contamination. Similarly Copelandias require these similar substrates although they colonised quickly.
This is not the case with psilo cyans which require lignious substrates - so once youve colonised say 350mls of sterile alder and brf - you can spawn non-sterile substrates like alder chips, oak, redgum or hickory as these are highly selective - no sterilisation required.
Just soak the woods or cardboard and prepare an outdoor bed - no fruiting chamber required, just let nature take its course with a bit of watering added.
