Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

Scientology is bunk.

I went in oince to take a personality and stress test. All these akward, stuttering, losers with limp handshakes trying to tell me how badly i need to change my life. Desperatly searching for some insecurity in me they could exploit by offering an easy solution to it.

Unimpressive

i was thinking of going in to talk to them once cause theres a church of scientology "celebrity center" (whatever that means) right next to my friends house.

but i thought they were gonna throw me in a basement and pump me full of lithium or something.

so i just stole their sign instead. :dancing: :dancing: :dancing:

I went to talk to them once in Santa Barbara. They had a help wanted sign, which caught my attention initially but I wasn't all to interested in working for them. I was curious, however, and went in. I started talking to the guy at the front desk, and asked him what the whole thing was about. He replied "You" and wouldn't say anything more. I couldn't get ANY information out of the guy at all. Finally I got sick of it, and decided to leave. He gave me a pamphlet, that said more nothing. They were just skirting the subject the whole time, which was strange...

I'm actually surprised at how common scientologists are, especially among celebrity types. I read that Battlefield Earth was a scientology movie; they didn't score any points there

It is, it is! You have to have lots of money in order to advance in the religion. What gets me is all these rich Hollywood stars are specifically targeted because of this and they swallow their B.S. What a scam!

It's been in the news lately - see the latest Rolling Stone (a long, but interesting read), so I figured I'd bring it up again.

Since there are about 5 other threads regarding this issue, I will only say that it is a serious and real religion, and is no more ridiculous than any other religion out there.
Like any other religion, it isnt "the answer" yet it has very valid points and doctrine regarding life.
It isnt a pyramid scheme... that is just assinine. I think what toiletduk is referring to is the blue-green algae, which still goes on today, but has a pyramid business structure, and it isnt limited to Scientologists.

fiction or non-fiction, L. Ron Hubbard was a great author.

The fairytale they believe in indeed is no more ridiculous than any other religion. But Scientology is a sect that is about $$$, they separate people from the rest of the world and do evil things keep them inside Scientology. They bring it as science and they are not open about the what the believe really is. It's a large enterprise that uses peoples problems to make money. It's like homeopathy but worse.

There are many other sects/religions that do the same, but the organization behind the religion is not the same as, for example, most catholic churches.

like I said before, there are atleast 5 other really really long discussions (threads) all about this.

I dont really have the energy or will to go over my entire stance on this, especially regarding the xenu website and the thousands of completely bullshit lies in that website.

See, most of your posts and common "anti-scientology" rhetoric comes straight from that website. Its like someone who has read a scathing, lopsided and biased attack of Philosophy X, yet has done no real study or search on the topic of Philosophy X (atleast biased research), yet feels knowledgable about the subject and salient points of Philosophy X.
And lets say that there is another person, who is very knowledgable on Philosophy X and has actually studied it and researched it without bias. This person hears/sees another person blabbing on about Philosophy X and realizes that the person has no fucking clue as to what they are talking about, and are merely spewing forth bullshit rhetoric.

thats about where Im at with the whole scientology thing.

i dont mind people discussing it at all, its just a little tiresome/annoying to keep seeing flat-out lies and misinformation replacing serious discussion of facts, or doctrine.

so.....UTFSE.... read up a little where we are at, maybe do a little unbiased research (you know, that whole... looking at it from both sides thing), then come back and rip on Scientology.

Correction, CULT, not sect. $cientology was listed on all of the non-profit cult watch lists... until the cult started to sue the list maintainers in court... court costs get expensive... wanna make a guess on who now ownes the non-profit cult watch lists? If you guessed $cientologists, you would be correct. Wanna guess the name of the one and only cult they removed from the lists...
