i really like cradle's vocals
except for the chick
i hate cheesy metal
which cradle sometimes sink into
i grew up on a lot of crust punk type stuff
ie Code 13, antischism, assuk, etc
i just heard today that a local type band i used to see
"burn the priest"
became
"lamb of god"
who are hellaciously popular now

i downloaded the promo thingy for nymphetamine awhile back.. i think it has like 5 or 6 songs off the album. swansong for a raven is my favorite, it sounds more 80's metal influenced than most their other stuff.

but midian is still my favorite.

muse_sick i didn't know you're into crust punk, or anyone else on the shroomery for that matter. some of it is really good stuff.. like the three bands you named (especially code 13), and Doom kick ass too. i just got a couple code 13 7" records.. doomed society and a part of america died today. there's some pretty good other crust bands on Havok records too.

I have the "Midian" and "Cruelty and the Beast" albums by cradle of filth.

I really like them but it took some time to get used to those vocals. Took much longer than any previous bands that ive listened to but once I got into it, I loved them.

Thanks for the new album info, I will see about previewing it or downloading some songs.

I don't mean to be a music hater, because whatever genre Cradle of Filth falls into really isn't my cup of tea, but I will express my opinion of them anyways, although it is of no importance, you may find it amusing.

To me, Cradle of Filth sounds like a soundstage to a movie (before the actual music is dubbed over) about weird goth rockers in which the actors portraying the musicians actually have NO IDEA how to play any musical instrument AT ALL and are just randomly making noise and screaming shit about death, blood, and the occasional reference to Satan.

that is all.

wow, you're stupid. i respect your opinion in not liking death metal and that whole thing, but it's bullshit to say that they have no idea how to play their instruments.

being a musician (guitar, bass, drums, keyboard), i can tell you that their music is often VERY technical and unique. it's almost like classical music at times, in terms of the scales that they use and some of the melodies. it's not just "random noise and screaming" or whatever.

you've just got to get past all the screaming and satanism and appreciate it's musical value.

by the way, sorry for flaming you stonedshroom, but seriously.. these guys can definitely play their instruments and have worked hard to get to where they are today. they're not just some guys that act creepy so people will like them.

Agreed, I think that they have a lot of talent.

Has anyone heard any of their live stuff??

Some of the live songs sound better than the studio recorded versions. I also have a few videos:

-Her ghost in the fog: cool video with a winter setting and various monsters and other trippy effects.
-malice through the looking glass (live): a well played live video.
-cthulu dawn (live): some harsh vocals but the effort is great, lot of emotion put into this one.

hahaha, you assume I don't know how to play instruments...

well, I play drums (since 5th grade) and i picked up the guitar a few years ago. I was also in band, music theory, and just about any other class about music (besides vocal music) that my school had to offer... a couple basic college courses, but those are basically like 'there are normally four beats in a measure, here's mary had a little lamb blah blah blah' plus a TON of extra workshops and concerts that the exceptional music students got to attend.

Maybe I can't 'get past' the death metal part, but it seriously sounds like their instruments took a shit and it spewed out of the amps.

but if you like it then more power to ya  :headbang:

i think metal is really headphone music.

it goes by fast, and is really distorted.
