dems don't have the ability to change much, but with them having the majority, Congress will have the will and numbers to be a somewhat effective check against executive bullshit.

Sometimes I don't think it is a bad thing to have people that know how things work and what the tools are.  They of course need to use those tools for the right things.  I don't think They are going anywhere but no matter what happens, I have my fingers crossed for some kind of improvement.

There is no just one in my opinion.  The corruption is the reason affordability takes back seat.  I think they are fucked later if they don't do the accountability and they need to work on the affordability to keep enough votes on board to go long enough to actually make structural long term stuff happen.

I know it can happen fast but usually after 100 years of trying.  There is always backlash for anything done and they need to survive it long enough to do more as well.  Only a few time that stuff stuck, sort of, Civil war, civil rights and after the depression are what comes to mind.

To me it is the ideal that service has to be more important then just power.

Pelosi is done January 2027...

There is a petition to keep Hakeem Jeffries from being speaker of the house. I signed it, along with many ppl I know, we will see if it has any impact. He is just awwwful.

Obviously, Schumer is fucking awful as well. He's the Milquetoastiest politician in Washington :lol:

we need term limits and age limits for all our government. no dinosaurs. no fossils. and accepting bribes should be punishable treason. i think Italy actually just made it a law to make it illegal for politicians to lie, and they can be held accountable for it now.

Dems can pass single bill one at a time

If it gets vetoed it will be more evident and profiled clear to see, that Trump is against the American people.
In other words: will only increase the amount of civil unrest.

To be frank, with Trump's health failing, I think his most valued anything is that ball room.
Pass meaningful matters (i.e increase federal minimum to a livable wage), but include measures inside bills that pander to his fancy for gold and arches.
Rectify his beautiful bill but give him the damn ball room.



Regarding Schumer, am hearing some say there is no chance he will be replaced. Then others in the same vein saying with all of the fresh faces coming in, they are more comfortable leaving Schumer as a gatekeeper. An anchor of stability.

With the influx of a new generation- many are protege of times long ago with relevance to the American population.

If there is a need for a steadfast horse at the helm, willing to listen to both the people and also work with bipartisan legislation- why not Bernie?

What would that look like, and is it even possible?

Pure subjective observation: I was quite young and bushy tailed when I knocked on doors and made calls for Bernie in 2016.

Now I am old, and Bernie has been singing the same song all along.

He is an independent. But many moons ago was called 'radical' 'too liberal' pie in the sky disses of naive flavor.

So why now has a new wave of politicians been elected, that share the same ideals. Are living proof of the predictions he has made.

If the American population, the majority now in pressing, vulnerable, even desperate situations, overwhelmingly voted these policies in, but there is a need for an old horse at the helm- why overlook the original.. what is there to rein in, if this is what the majority of the country is now warming up to, what was once called impossible, ignorant, radical, 'going too far?'

That does not bode well for freedom in Wales.  The power to punish lies is the power to dictate truth.  Once the government has that power, it's only a matter of time before they have complete power over autonomy.

Until it's not...

It's only a matter of time before certain truths are deemed official, certified, or whatever word they want to use.  Truth becomes a question of consensus, eventually.

Apply that law to the U.S.  Are we jailing people for claiming 2020 election was stolen?  OR are we jailing people for claiming it wasn't?  Does it depend on the county we're in?  That's just one example, but I'm sure you can think of 100 in 10 minutes.

I dunno... seems like a slippery slope fallacy -- how is prohibiting knowingly false or misleading statements of fact intended to affect an election, materially different from empowering courts to punish individuals for making false or misleading statements of fact under oath?
