Strong mold spore survived the PC cycle. That would be my guess.

No mold spores even survive a pasteurizing cycle.
We PC for bacteria, molds can be killed before we even boil the water

Ok, then he farted when the lid was open. Lol. Something snuck in there.

Did he clean the vents on the ceiling?

Edit: No disrespect, Cron. Just mixing fucking around with saying it may have been just one random bad jar.

Should be totally cool. But if you're worried about it and want to be super careful give it five days or so before inoculating to see if it decides to turn on ya.

Thanks guys

Gymnopilus cultivation is still pretty new territory for most people, I've never tried and have only personally seen a handful of folks here doing it, which is probably why your question isn't being answered in QQ-QA. Might want to try asking about it in the Gymn specific thread here
Hope you're able to get some answers!

I wouldn't reuse the plates, but if you are low on them, I feel you and understand why you're thinking about it.
In case it's a "desperate" situation, reuse them, but transfer as soon as possible and keep everything as far away as possible from the other transfers.

Regarding the size of transfer, it can work out even with super tiny pieces of tissues, that's why things like Josex's poke work. But in my experience bigger wedge transfers catch up better, and when doing super tiny aerial myc transfers, sometimes there are no signs of lifeat all.
Do you have pictures of the plate you transfered from?

Hey, I appreciate your input!
No, I don't have any pics, I use pp5 screw on and there is still condensation that would prevent a good quality photo. The thing is that at the same time I made a transfer of a same or slightly smaller size to the cabin which is showing growth, maybe even a day after I saw some tiny hyphae.
But these on water agar have no growth at all, like I've put flashlight from all the angles, and nothing, not even on top of those wedges. Hence why the question.
I was trying to make sure there is some use of them before I toss them to make new ones. And yes I'm low on em. I've only bought 20 of those since that's all I could afford so I gotta juggle with them now cuz I've started a bit too many cultures:muppet:

Ok, based on yall's suggestions, I'll make coir cakes instead of just rye flour cakes, 2 parts coir 1 part rye 1 part water.

Coir does indeed work really well in cakes.  It’s better at promoting pin sets than verm

The Sibu cakes I did pinned a lot before fully colonizing, maybe due to larger cake sizes.

When they have pins forming, but in a tight space, does that make it more likely for it to express itself in weird mutant like ways? BEcause that seems to be the dealio.

edit: @fahtster: also doesn't cause flakes left at the bottom of a stem to taste like chemical warfare.

Hi, this is Jack Frost from Okt 24 so 10 Day's ago i inject LC in the Jars. After 4-5 Day's i do only 1 Shake and no Shake i will do so i will not made this mistake again.

What ya think how the Jars looks?

Here are a test from my DC Mac LC i shoot from my Syringe litte bit in a the small Glas Bottle filled with Agar. Normally i use the Bottle for PC Agar and filled in Agar Dishes but it was left over and i let it in the Jar and weeks later i shoot litte LC in the Jar too see how it looks. What's your look how the Mycelium looks?

Seems like you have clean growth. Let it get to 30 to 50% before next shake.

Any of the more science brained among us have book (or anything else) recommendations for getting into the finer details of this hobby?

I know any mycology textbook would do good but if there’s some S tier learning materials I’d rather be as efficient as possible

That coir looks too wet, did you test for field capacity before spawning? Only a drop should come out of a tightly squeezed fistful of coir. If it's too wet, Mold takes advantage of the nutrition available from the grain.
