First agar plates, any comments?

The first two are from grain spawn and the last one’s a cutting.

#2 has a little blue in there that’s clearly contam. But my understanding is I can just cut a chunk of the clean myc and transfer it to another plate, correct?

#3 had a yellow spot that the myc has overcome, which was fun to see. (GO TEAM MYC!) I assume I should do the same with this one, cut a clean chunk of it and move to another plate?

Yes, that is the purpose of using agar. You want to transfer clean mycelium away from any suspected contamination asap to new agar plates in order to grow out clean (not clean enough) myc to transfer to sterilized grain.

Yes if you are cleaning up a culture, you want to take a piece of the leading edge of the culture no larger than a grain of rice before the culture hits the walls of the Petri dish.
