I’m pretty sure thats a slime mold. Bad news for the pot. The common verity here is bright yellow.

What's your weather been like?  It's cold and rainy here and I was hoping for an early season.  I'm in zone 5/4 and my ps. cyan beds usually go from first frost until a hard freeze.  End of October until middle of November, very short window.  I'm going to go look at them rn.

It’s been getting down to 50*F at night, and it  rained a couple days last week. Normally we have a bit of late summer, this year it felt like Autumn 2 weeks ago.

here i am in southern oregon watching forest fire maps with a smokey pink sunset.

it has seemed like a milder september than most, though.  I just watered one of my patches... can't water them all though.  I'm experimenting with not watering some patches ever

questions i've been meaning to ask:

from a spore print collected from a wild mushroom, I started a ps cyan MS patch in 2024: is that F1?

I cloned a fruit from that patch, and that performed well in 2025 (I call that cyan clone F1?)

From that clone I collected spores, germinated them, and made new patches in 2026: are these F2?

If i keep doing this, I used to think that would be the best way to get something suited to my conditions...  now i realize that i'm inbreeding them, and i'm thinking it'd be best to get more wild genetics from different sources

Awesome Blopblop, I checked my beds and they're not there yet. Wild boar ploughed through them, or some other big mammal. Skip the birds, straight for the jugular!

Anyway, the season is finally upon us. Can't wait for y'alls pics

Was quite surprised to find some cyan pins popping out of one of my pots this morning. I mixed up this 2 gallon pot last July, and it fruited in Nov. This culture was started from a local spore print (DIY), sent to rye, and expanded in maple/alder chips. Topped off with some more chips back in May, seems it could hardly wait to get down to business this year. Gonna have lots more to share here soon.




Last year's fruits in the pic below, which I did clone and make more of.

The Netherlands are too dry, way too dry. Everything is biding its time.

Regular old cyan


The subaer beds were thoroughly plowed


Aztecorum looks like this, I have high hopes



Several serbica and alleni beds look like they will fruit this season too. Only caeruleorhiza I've yet located is in a flowerpot, not sure about that one.

It looks like the shredded azzie cakes I put to the wood chips a couple of weeks ago are colonizing. Not sure about the larger pile (3'x3' about 12" deep) has colonized as I don't want to mess with it. Same type as the sample patch and I hope they overwinter because....WINTER IS COMING

Two more felt pots getting going...more warm weather on the way next week so we'll see how these end up doing. These started a few weeks earlier than last year, nothing coming out of the ground yet though.

Bursting outta the bottom on all sides, nothing up top yet. This pot is a cloned culture of a real nice fatty from last year.

I'm terrible at taking notes, but it was probably a clone of one of these. Nov. 2025.


Pins popping in this 10 gallon felt pot, second season for this one, did not feed more chips.


Here's what this pot looked like last fall. I had dumped four kinda-crooked 6qt tubs of a few different cyan cultures down with some fresh chips and put the felt pot on top. A few different genetic expressions were apparent.
