No pours like pastyplates makes it less intimidating.

Nowadays, I do pours, I use sauce containers, much easier to work with rather than using parafilm.

5-10% for me or it gets too firm to work ime, im sure you could add cocoa butter to loosen it up though

I’ll do an eighth to 5g in a 60ish gram chocolate bar mold

I did an experiment where I inoculated a jar of orchid soil mix with lc in the name of science. Despite the fact that there appears to be some kind of yeast like contamination the mycelium deos appear to have taken somewhat to the substrate which makes me wonder could ground orchid soil mix mixed with vermiculite act as a casing layer?

Looks like myc

Yeast or some kind of contamination

What ratio of shroom to melted chocolate do yall use? 20% would be easy math, but I wonder what works best.

My last batch was 2 of these sized bars:

Mixed in with about a ~200ml volume amount of powdered shroom (i didnt weigh it, I just know it fit in the size of a supplement bottle after it was powdered)

Mixed in with some crushed up deluxe mixed nuts

I've run out of filters for my grain jars. Is MP tape sufficient enough?

@callmehippie: two layers though, and I would cover it with foil so it doesn't get wet.

Thanks on the ratios y'all. I tried going 1:4, so 20g shrooms 80g chocolate, but it was definitely not enough. Added more chocolate, I guess 180g total, since I divided it into 10 20g sauce container impromptu molds.

Unfortunate discovery is that the cheap dollar store plain chocolates with a bunch of palm oil and stuff is WAY better for melting that proper molding chips.

Gonna go ham post Halloween on discounted stuff.

For cubes, you can't reliably trigger it (with something like a sharp temperature change or introduction of FAE), but you can help things along by creating a healthy environment ("dial in your FC" as langten said) with good humidity, temperatures, etc. So it's not that you shouldn't optimize the environment, just that there is only the one ongoing environment, and you don't need to make a distinct switchup at any point. If your environment is somehow bad and you improve it, that can be a pinning trigger, but there's no special timing element to it. Anything in that category should start at spawn time.

Some other mushrooms (like ps cyanescens) and marijuana do use seasonal cues to recognize that it's autumn and therefore time to party, so I get why the idea has appeal.

If you’re thinking about CO2 or pinning triggers etc with cubes, you’re overthinking cubes.

I started just using MP tape. I have some stickers that cling for dear life, some rtp’d, and mp tape and in my opinion I haven’t seen a difference. Much less time spent making lids for me.

when pouring your own agar pates, how do you seal them afterwards?

parafilm/cling wrap them bad boys one by one is the usual approach?

Or make a stack and seal them with some cellophane or thin plastic bag?

I personally use parafilm on individual plates but a lot people use cling wrap

I put a stack of 6-7 plates on a jar ring (so the bottom section of the bottom plate gets wrapped securely) and wrap the stack with a 5" roll of cling wrap, then cut them out as needed.

Five 90mm plates fit in a sandwich bag. Then, I reuse the bags later. Seems like the most efficient way to me if plastic waste has to be involved one way or the other.

Some people just stick the unwrapped plates in a tub, but that’s living too close to the edge for me.

the ones I buy come vacuum sealed in some thin cellophane that rips and tears once opened, not reusable sadly.

The thing is that the lids sit pretty loosely on the plates so I would like some sort of tight sealing. Parafilm 1 by 1 would be ideal but its a lot of parafilm and time. Maybe stacks and cling wrap would be my approach. I will what I do.

Thanks guys

in brf puck tek is says the ratio is 2:1:1 vermiculite, water, brf

it says cups. does it make sense in the metric system?

30g of vermiculite
15g water
15g brf

that is really dry or do i have a he wrong understanding of field capacity?
