If it isnt 100% colonized, when you spawn 2 bulk, it is almost guaranteed to contaminate

You have 2 spores cuz u fucked up ur pc cycle in the minutest way possible well it's still fucked lwk as in 2 days the bacterial load count will be off the charts :flamethrow:

Wells anyways don't spawn uncolonized grain wait till it's ready ur fungi will thank you with fruits rather than the bacteria thanking you for the grains. :hatsoff:

Trying to decide between using bags or jars for PC. Is one of the two more noob friendly than the other? I would assume jars should be more fool proof. I would be ok with fitting less grain per cycle.

Do what you're comfortable with, they both are noob friendly. Plastic costs more on the long run

I dont use plastic cuz i hate unnecessary waste (throwing away plastic bags)

Jars are less wasteful. Whether or not they are more noob-friendly depends on your inoc setup. With a regular SAB bags are more hassle than jars. With a double SAB, or SAB over the sink, or a flowhood / LLF, there's no real difference.

If you just started today, buy the plastic bags with injection ports installed in them already (noob friendly cuz its less work to deal with)

Once you are no longer a noob...you can do more pro shit and it will work better, cuz you work better

Have to admit that I have no experience using a PC and makes me want to do lots of research to be safe. But I love research so... no biggie.

Most PC's come with a security plug so don't be too concerned, but I know the feeling and I was on my tippytoes the first couple of runs :lol:

Couple of tips.

Raise the trivet with stainless nuts and bolts and get some high temperature silicone caps for the bolts.



A stainless screen to put on top of the bolts. I used one for a mash tun, almost perfect size and can be found in any homebrew store.





Always remember to lubricate the gasket, I use cip-film, it amazing.



Get some neodymium magnets to put on the weight, I use 13g, it will stop a lot of the noise.



Or don't, just wanted to put that out there for those using a presto 23qt :rockon:

I will have a look at some local OP shops, theres always all kind of trays, racks and whatnot there, Im sure I will find something there to improvise something like that.

yeah Im sure after a couple of runs I will be confident about not blowing up my garage.

My garage is pretty big, and theres never any cars there. We park outside. It is basically a storage unit/mancave. Ideal for PC runs if you ask me. I can have the cycle running while I chill on a comfy sofa having a beer while reading 7 year old posts about grain moisture. If or when I get a flow hood, I would set it up there as well, I can find a corner and arrange a little ghetto lab.

Yes it costs extra money, but as far as i know, unless you actually have a literal stove in your garage, this is the only way I know how to do it

I only know how to use electricity, if someone can show me how to mentally heat matter to my will, im game:rockon:
