The upload button in the pictures tab should still work. I usually upload my pics there now, copy the codes and then start making my own post.

Nearly 2 quarts of poppy seeds from this year's garden. There are 191,000 to 210,000 seeds per ounce of poppy seeds.

I'm doing a seed giveaway on the Marketplace:

Hi guys!

So... I am growing some cubes in monotubs, I am doing UB Tek this time, but dont panic, I already bought 10 1KG grain bags from a vendor so the real deal will happen soon. Hate me all you want for going UBs ways.

I inoculated 14 store brand 450gr brown rice bags using agar wedges inside a SAB. Still... I ended up with 3 contaminated ones.

One I just threw it in the bin because the rice felt mushy af when I did break and shake.

The other 2 contaminated ones were almost fully colonized but had some pink grains at the bottom, likely lipstick mold.

Instead of throwing these ones in the bin, I decided to send them outside on a garden bed that sits on soil. So, no actual bottom to the bed, which helps with watering, no pooling at the bottom gives me peace of mind.

I just dug the bed a bit, added hydrated CVG, threw the spawn and mixed it and covered with some CVG. Then I put a soaked cardboard on top to retain moisture and isolate it a bit from the outdoor nasties and hopefully some bugs. Then added some old as fuck and dry woodchips what were in the planter initially.

I must admit that little effort was put into this but I had the space so I gave it a go.

Its cold here right now, southern hemisphere, spring is starting. I know I did this a bit too early but I didnt want to keep contaminated bags in the house (or fridge) for 2 months waiting for warmer temps.

I did one bag one weekend, then the other bag the next weekend on top. When I went to add the second bag I noticed the mycelium was starting to appear on the casing layer. Small amount of growth, but feels like a win considering it gets pretty cold at night right now, and not too warm during the day either. Temps are around 6-8c overnight, and 18c max dirung the day.

Jack Frost spawn.

Any advice, pointers, suggestions are appreciated.

heres some pictures.

And last pic: This is the small growth I noticed after a week of burying the first bag. Small but at least means its alive still.

For the climate in Southeast MI, can I add spent substrate cakes to a designated compost garden any time of year? like if I bury them outside in late fall/winter will they grow come spring time? I'm thinking of just filling a fenced off area with compost and flushed out cakes and hope patches grow every year.

This is species dependent. More than likely cubensis will not survive a Michigan winter, otherwise they would have naturalized there already. I'm sure tons of people have grown cubes outside there or discarded spent cakes at the least.

Put them outside in the spring, after the last frost.

Get into woodlovers dude! Cold woodlovers will come back every year. If you want something than can grow on compost and potentially survive the winter, look at semilanceata or stuntzii

You can even find Psilocybe caerulipes literally RIGHT NOW where you live!

We get Subaeruginosa during fall/winter where I live. And I love them, worth the woodlovers paralysis 😅

I got given a healthy looking agar plate of subs, and sent half of a plate into a cardboard lasagna. Its been 2 weeks and I can definitely see its been chewing through that celulose rich (boiled) cardboard .

The plan is to let it turn those layers of cardboard into a white block. Then I will get those hardwood pellets you use on BBQs. Hydrrate them as you do with coir, and send the colonized cardboard into the pellets ina big bucket with a ventilation hole taped with micropore tape and let it colonize that. Once the pellets look good, send it outside and create a bed in the garden. Have lots of spots, all beds that sit in the soil, which I like because theres no water pooling ever.

Will see how things go. I may create a thread once things get going because Im sure I will have questions hahaa and its also cool to share the experience with people that will appreciate it.

And the best part. Weather here is IDEAL for subs, a well prepared outdoor bed will provide for years. As long as you top up the bed with some nutrients in between seasons. How cool is that?

How about the racist, sexist, phobia soup we've all been drowning in because of him? And I'm not just talking about Jesus. I'm talking about all organized religion - exclusive groups created to manage control, a dealer getting people hooked on the drug of hope, his followers nothing but addicts who want their hit of bullshit to keep their - their dopamine of ignorance, addicts afraid to believe the truth - that there is no order, there's no power, that all religions are just metastasizing mind worms meant to divide us so it's easier to rule us by the charlatans that want to run us.

Tossed the leftover colonized chips from my cyanescens patch I made in with the vine like growths I cut back

Got some clean colonization though don't say much untell I get fruits xD

Looks like I finally have some pins! Hoping for some big chonkers here in the near future.

My only worry now is that there are Hella fungus gnats buzzing around my bins. Is this worrisome in an outdoor grow?
