Awesome job with them! Thanks for the info as well. It will help narrow down how I grow these. What are they being called by Julian? I'm sure the name will change from zinnii as it was stated on the vendors site "Should the conversation lead to an official recognition of the species, more traditional naming conventions will be applied."

Any trip reports on them?

I never ate them. I'm not sure if he ever sent his in for potency testing. But I do know that natalensis themselves are weak. Not sure about pseudoaztecorum.


I don't believe he named them. Perhaps him and Workman are working that out. I have no idea.

Hahaha you better sit down for this.. I've grown around 30 different active species and have only ever eaten pan cyans and cubes 😂 I actually prefer acid over mushrooms.

I got some good looking growth on both now. I'll probably transfer tonight or tomorrow. Looks clean as could be too!

People, the X is important in the name.  It means that it is a psilocybe hybrid, where the hybrid itself has a name, 'Zinnii'

I clicked on this thread title assuming a new species was discovered, psilocybe zinnii, but that is not the case, the title is wrong - it should be called psilocybe x zinnii to stop the confusion asap.

Instead of being a new species called P zinnii, this is a hybrid:  "P. x zinnii" or "Psilocybe x zinnii"

The species name is never capitalized if you want to be proper Bigworm. Only the genus
