When you say, "... and his blood rabid jackals", who are you referring to, exactly? The Fascist members of party leadership who endorse his "war" and support him politically? The rank-and-file IDF soldiers who are following his orders, carrying out his genocidal will, or the other ~80% of Israeli citizens who support them in doing so?

I ask, because I am trying to parse out your position, and that is important.

So don’t try and make me out to be one of them just because I refuse to sell my family and people down the drain to fit in with a bunch of idiots in the internet (no on in this thread or this site obviously, we are all very smart and reasonable individuals who post here) who have spent their whole lives waiting to be able to spout disgusting nonsense about Jews and act the hero while doing so.

What do you mean "sell your family and people down the drain"? What is it that you feel is at stake here? It seems to me that a lot more damage is done, and a lot more is lost, by refusing to acknowledge what is going on, and challenge it. When Israelis consistently come out and defend these things (on tv and elsewhere)... It is very harmful.

Quote:
So ya, Bibi sucks and Israel is in a very dark path right now but Bibi does not define me, my family, or my people no more than Drumpf defines the millions of kind, compassionate, and empathy drive individuals in America who want nothing to do with him.

Well, that's more of an acknowledgement than I recall seeing from you in the past, so that is headway. I don't define all Jewish Israelis by the words or actions of Netanyahu. I understand that you can only judge a society so much by it's leaders. My opinion is informed by the words and actions of the Israeli government, the words and actions of common Israeli citizens, polling data, and 3rd party accounts from people who have been there, and unfortunately there is very little nuance to be gleaned from any of these. They all consistently confirm my most dreadful intuitions.

In other words, Bibi is shockingly representative.

From what I understand, there are many Fascistic mechanisms that reinforce a sort of group think that includes both a deep-seated paranoia (Partially due to the psychological impact of the holocaust on older generations), and the dehumanization of Palestinian people...

And there is also a religious component to all of it.. I think anything can be "justified" with the kind of morality found in Leviticus.

In spite of all of that, I have to say, it's really disheartening to someone like me... Knowing what I do know about you (being a progressive, and as far as I can tell quite intelligent person...) that someone like you is unable to acknowledge how truly horrifying it is.. that your soul is not so tortured as mine from 10,000 miles away..

What am I missing?

When even Israel's PR spokespeople can't acknowledge that Palestinian people are human beings of equal value, and have a right to dignity, or even to life at all... There seems to be a deep-seated perversian of thought that as far as I can tell is almost ubiquitous. At the risk of sounding like Pierce Morgan ("Do you condemn Hamas")... Do you acknowledge that Israel is committing genocide?

Do you acknowledge there is little difference between the attitude Israel has toward Gazans, and the mind that authored Mein Kampf toward Jewish people?

I think I will just leave this there..

I don’t understand how you can recognize it’s wrong to generalize all Palestinians but somehow think it’s totally okay to generalize all Israelis because of some polls and 3rd hand accounts you found on Qatari state financed Al Jazeera.

If you want to know what actually Israelis are like, then come to Israeli and talk to actual Israelis. Get your own first hand account. I have places in Tel Aviv I could set you up for a week or two for free. (I won’t be back to Israel until some time next year after the twins are born)

Everyone I know and interact with in Israel from immediate family, to extended family, from close friends to friends of those friends; guess what, they all hate Bibi and this government. And sure I might be an outlier, I live in glass bubbles and basically all my friends in Israel I have met through the kink scene, the drug scene, the psytrance scene, or gay scene BUT that is the Israel I know, and those were the people who were raped, murdered and kidnapped on Oct7, hippie kids at a music festival, not bootlickers.

I won’t pretend for a second to know much of anything about right handed path theology or whatever you’re referencing, but no one I know wants any of this. As someone who has spent actual time living in Israel, we teach life, sir.

That's a lot of words to empathize with Israelis -- not a single thought to you extending that same grace towards Palestinians -- maybe you need to take your own advice

You've been actively (and gleefully) denying an ongoing genocide for years now -- that isn't an assumption formed through lumping you in together with all Israelis, but through your own personal statements made on this site

Do you still deny that the Israeli state is committing genocide against the Palestinian people? -- because in all those words, I don't see you answering this question

But I’m not going to sit here with you or anyone and debate definitions until I say the exact right words to earn the collective grace of being seen as a “good Jew.” That’s incredibly obnoxious and in very bad faith and I will not engage in it.

If that isn’t good enough for you, then so be it.

It's not a debate over definitions -- it's about acknowledging the international consensus across dozens of expert organizations, including respected Israeli human rights group B'Tselem: https://www.btselem.org/publications/202507_our_genocide -- by reducing the unique social and political context of genocide to mere 'tragedy', by not acknowledging the apartheid and ethnic cleansing at its core, how can we expect to act appropriately?

But I won't press the point further here -- rather I'll turn my direction to this point:

"If you want to know what actually Israelis are like, then come to Israeli and talk to actual Israelis. Get your own first hand account."

I have -- it was seeing my friends response to the 2008 invasion of Gaza that first opened my eyes to the plight of the Palestinian people -- have you ever extended the same grace to visit Palestinians first hand? -- there are a multitude of Israeli peace organizations which organize trips out to the West Bank in order to help the Palestinian people.

Yes, I have spent time in occupied West Bank around Palestinians. I have nothing but love for Palestinians, they are my cousins after all. I have also donated to multiple verified organizations where the money actually goes to actually helping Palestinians in West Bank and Gaza both, rather than like 90% of the things people donate to that just goes directly to Hamas. I have always advocated a two state solution and I want Hamas removed just as much for the safety of Israelis as I do for the freedom of Palestinians.

I get the impression you’re trying to be reasonable however I honestly think you’re less informed than you may realise. 🤷‍♂️
I’ll just point out a couple of things, firstly the rape claims are not proven, at all. Maybe you’ve heard these accounts second hand? But they aren’t credible from what I can gather and I spend A LOT of time looking at this stuff. If you can point out a credible source I’m more than willing to accept it if it’s truthful.
The other thing is the kids killed at the music festival and the civilians killed in the kibbutz/homes.
Like the evidence of the buildings being hit by tank fire is undeniable and the pile of burnt out and mangled cars from the music festival is far beyond what those poorly equipped HAMAS fighters could inflict. By all accounts it was Israeli Apache helicopters that did that.
Can you see where we’re coming from? We’re being told to not believe what we can see with our own eyes and it’s infuriating. No one likes to be pissed on and told it’s raining.

So, you don't think statements of the victims themselves is enough to credibly prove rape?  What is it going to take?  Video?

At least 10 victims have given testimony, dude.

I had a Jewish school mate who turned into a rabid zionist. He was ultra "If you are against Israel then you are an antisemite" before that was a thing. A master at it. I refused to engage.

Kinda fortunate that he died before the genocide really started because I would have had to end the long friendship ... by telling him to go fuck himself.

There is a lot of effort and money spent on turning Jewish children into Zionists. Just like with any sort of cult (Zionism is a cult) they target children, because they are impressionable/more easily radicalized.

We like to think of ourselves as rational creatures, but most people are incapable of unlearning that sort of foundational indoctrination.

That CNN article could very well be your most pathetic attempt at being contrarian yet, quite an accomplishment 👍
10 victims did not give testimony on being raped, follow the links, one guy was whining about being tied up naked, certainly not nice, but definitely not a serious sexual assault.

Also if you used your lawyerly skills to your full capacity you’d probably be able to work out that according to that report, the attack on the festival began at 8am, which contradicts the report from Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth(fighting began a half hour earlier) and the first pair of Apache helicopters arrived at 8.30am even though they didn’t begin firing until around 9am. A total of 28 Apaches arrived in the area.

Hamas fighters were instructed to blend into the crowd.

Yet you’re ready to believe they had their dicks out gang banging festival goers while a friggen armada of helicopters were either above them or on their way.

Also, I had a browse through the 298 pages of that Israeli report and gee, not a single photo of any mutilated bodies, nothing, nada, but plenty of photos of teddy bears, children’s bicycles and other fluffy crap to tug at people’s heart strings.

For god’s sake, do better 👎

After spending time in the West Bank, was your major takeaway "I want Hamas removed just as much for the safety of Israelis as I do for the freedom of Palestinians"

You didn't answer yet, but I'm going to explain why your talk here of "tragedy" and "love" comes across as disingenuous.

First, you come here asking people to empathize with Israelis because they can be kind and caring with their friends and families -- Hitler also famously loved dogs, but that has no bearing on his genocide -- abusers can be kind to people other than their victims, and fascists can care about their families while carrying out a genocide.

I tried to press you on how your genocide denial is the issue here -- and how empathy you can display towards other people and groups doesn't take away from the lack of empathy you consistently display towards Palestinians. I asked you to clarify your opinion regarding Israel's genocide, but you didn't want to "say the line" so we moved on.

Next, I asked you to extend the empathy you ask for Israelis, towards Palestinians too -- specifically, I asked about the West Bank -- and yes, on the surface level your response was kind and caring -- but you chose to focus on "removing Hamas" without a single mention to how the Israeli military and settler paramilitaries are the biggest threat to the safety and freedom of Palestinians in the West Bank -- it's impossible to spend time in the West Bank without this being glaringly obvious, so why do you not mention it at all?

You talk about not wanting to "say the line" when it comes to acknowledging the genocide you are currently benefiting from -- but you're more than willing to say the line of 'do you condemm Hamas?' even when it's irrelevant to the violence happening in the West Bank right now.

So you don't acknowledge the genocide, you don't acknowledge the violence of the IDF and settlers, you don't acknowledge the government-led campaigns of apartheid and ethnic cleansing -- you just say the line "I want Hamas removed" -- and this is why your attempt to display empathy towards Palestinians mostly just reveals a massive blindspot.

Hamas may provide an excuse for Gaza, but it doesn't work for the West Bank -- similarly, Hezbollah may provide an excuse for Lebanon, but there's nothing for Syria. There's so much evidence, from the published rhetoric of Israeli citizens to the explicit political actions of your democratic leaders to the long list of war crimes committed by your military -- if you truly are the empathetic person you come across as in other topics, eventually you will have to grapple with your genocide

By the way, while I do like Al Jazeera just fine, the polling data that I have seen is from Haaretz (I can dig it up, if you like), though my perspective is also informed by interviews I have seen with Israeli people.

I can't think of a single interview that I have seen, where the Israeli interviewee didn't generally come off the way this woman does:

When this is all I see from yall, and you're government is committing genocide, what do you expect people to think?

Quote:
Everyone I know and interact with in Israel from immediate family, to extended family, from close friends to friends of those friends; guess what, they all hate Bibi and this government.

I understand that Netanyahu (I hate the name "Bibi" for a bloodthirsty, mass-murdering warmonger, honestly)... is unpopular in Israel, but from what I have read, and come to understand, it is not because of his genocidal actions. In fact, from what I understand, it looks as though he will be replaced with someone even more violent, towards the Palestinian people.

Well, I must assume you are in a bubble. It's not the military that is raiding homes in the West Bank, it is civilians... and the polling data I have seen is not made up. It's not "Hamas propaganda". I don't claim to know everything about Israel, and I am interested in what contradictory evidence you can provide, but this is literally all we see out of that place.

I think, at this point a two-state solution is just not going to happen. The only solution is for Israel to give equal rights to all of it's people, and to do away with it's dreams of a theocratic ethnostate.

Jews and Palestinians used to live together peacefully in that region, and they can do again. Bringing about something like that would probably require some assistance from South Africa. They really are the model of success in ending apartheid.
