Perhaps the peer-review process rejected Pettigrew's paper in the standard archaeology and rock art academic journals and the only place that would accept the paper was "Clinical and Experimental Optometry"

My intuition thought that same, at least he can publish somewhere... Both Pettigrew and Walsh were fringe, no doubt about that, but that doesn't imply they are not to be taken seriously, alot of academic research is funded by what is popular and not necessarily what is true. The wikipedia page is largely consensus views which, if viewed carefully, this research is quite antithetical to, so of course it will be anathema to the current wikipedia article on Gwion Gwion rock paintings. All of this aside, i think the research should be viewed in an unbiased manner regardless of whether they are credentialed (which by the way Pettigrew is quite the scholar if you look at his records, but nevertheless).

Still the point is that a direct east bearing would get them to the Kimberley, nothing fantastical here, no complicated navigation required, which makes it seem all the more plausible. All the other evidence, I admit, isn't a smoking gun, but is something that should be reviewed in academic archaeological research, but isn't for all sorts of political and social reasons as well as land rights.

If you look at this video
you will see that this is the current accepted view (that the paintings were done by Aboriginal people), and that everyone else has "problems with the misperceptions". This is as far as they go, no answers about where the Baobabs came from, etc... Ouzman just dismisses it as "misperception" and a "pathology of british colonialism". Not trying to say it is false, just want to see a real discourse on it instead of dismissal, I am half black if that convinces you I have no "right wing political agenda"...

Edit:
Here's what Pettigrew found with the very similar distribution of Bradshaws and Baobabs:

Hi guys, managed to get another trip in down to the triangle. Great weather down there, the pine trees are juust starting to drop their pollen which gives the air a slight golden mist as the midday temps start getting warmer.

Got some subs, and a few amanitas. I don't know how rare the amanitas are or their distribution, but I don't see hundreds or even tens of them. The fact there are so many pine trees... it seems odd that they aren't everywhere. Going back to the same spots as last year they were there in the exact same spots.

Anyway, good fun, and got a few snaps :sporedrop:

No they don't grow in Darwin, not subs anyway, that's way too north for subs.

But there was a recent discovery in the Top End of a potentially new Psilocybe species so there could well be some "magic" in and around Darwin:

Yeah mate, during the build up, when the humidity is above 90% and it's rained a few times, Pan Cyan's have been found in buffalo crap out bush and in cow crap in the cattle holding yards, although I myself have yet to find some! I need to put more effort and time in, however I'll be having a go at growing some Pan Cyan very soon as I have a spore syringe

Hi fellow WA PS lovers!

I’ve got a mate down smack bang in the triangle staying on J road. He’s been asking me for help as I used to be a bit of a forager back in my day (20+ years ago, what happened!)

Anyway all he’s managed is a single find. I’ve sent him a bunch of info from these pages but I see some other’s on here have been there this weekend.

Is it tough going or is my mate just not looking hard enough?

Thanks for reading and any replies

Yeah mate meanies sure do! I had .5g dried once and was gone! Intense open eyed visuals that I'm not smart enough to put into words,I couldn't talk or move but strangely enough very enjoyable! it was the best thing I've ever experienced in my life! I'm longing to experience it again!

Yeah that would be cool to come across a rare one like that!

Hi SW-D,

They aren't everywhere, but in a somewhat specific type of environment. You're looking for sparse pine areas on the very edges of the forest, its a waste of time looking in the dense, dark grid pine forests, it will be grassy and pine needles and maybe some fallen logs and branches. You can also find them growing around stringybark eucalyptus and blue gum, with plenty of grassy patches around them, and look for soggy zones. When you find one, you tend to find more, but they don't grow in large groups, always one or two and then maybe a few more if you look in a 10m area around them. Jayes road is a good zone but make sure hes going to the right forest, I haven't found any in the other pine forests, although I found the amanitas in the other forests... That might be all I am allowed to say without name dropping.  Goodluck

I agree, words become difficult to describe the meaningful and completely otherworldly experience. It seems to defy reality in many ways... Love the Terence Mckenna image, i find myself completely understanding alot of what mckenna says, that alot of his "far out" ideas are in fact exactly what its like. Things like, the laws of physics are replaced with the laws of the imagination, that reality is a level of a cosmic system, the world is made of magic, not just a little bit but 100%, all these things sounded like hyperbole, but during my trips I've been able to be convinced entirely of them, not believing it out of faith but seeing it, as in "you have to see it to believe it", once you see it, its very hard to convince yourself that it's "just" a hallucination, because its so convincing. I don't believe its just a serotonin agonist, that psilocybin is imitating serotonin, since when does serotonin make you see impossible things? Psilocybin is more like tapping into the gaian mind, which is another thing im convinced now that Mckenna has said haha

That’s gotta be around 34g I reckon.. they’re crisp and cracker dry?

I was just looking at the weather downtown and it still seems like optimal conditions now.
Has anybody had any success down there this week?
I’m half tempted to head down tonight or tomorrow for a lil stretch and wander :earth::regularshroom::pipesmoke:

All found around some native WA trees (Agonis flexuosa)
Oooo, that’s interesting. I knew they were okay with eucalypts but that’s awesome they’re thriving with Peppermint trees, very cool.

I live WELL outside the triangle, too (North).
Out of curiosity how far north?
I’ve had em pop up in the garden when I rented in the Kwinana area, but I’ve seen a few posts over the years claiming even closer to the city, one apparent location was more or less in the city itself.

I should probably check the local spots I spawned years ago 🤞🤞

Trying to decide whether I'm going to venture another trip to the triangle... It's starting to get pretty late now when the earliest I can go is maybe next wed... I've already noticed it was farther and fewer between, and that was a couple weeks back, and we haven't had all that much rain since... What do you guys think? Anyone else still finding them?

I took another trip to get some to make more patches. My first patch I came across ever was still fruitful and a fair few old ones. I then went walking using the patterns I had found… came across a second patch which was just ridiculous. They were everywhere. I didn’t pick any. Lots of pins after the rain they just had.

Nice, thanks for the info. Why not pick any? as long as you don't disturb the myc or pick the pins, its not too bad... Going down again is definitely a possibility... Mid June - early July was best this year. It started to wane around this time last year, but might be one more flush. It was only 10-15mm at B, even though here in Perth we got 40mm or some shit.

This is the last week of rain:

Green means 25-50mm

I usually like to wait a good week or so to allow them to fruit/mature. But yeah, where I live we got 50-100mm in the last week (in the turquoise region). If only it rained that much down south!
