Although this is in response to something that was posted about three years ago, I have to say that the chances of a scientist misidentifying a subbs and foes is extremely unlikely. Earlier comments that suggested how very similar the two are seem to me, as they should to anyone who can identify mushrooms with reasonable efficiency, inane. Foes are extremely common, and EXTREMELY easy to identify, especially in comparison to subbs. Although I've seen LOTS of examples in which the caps are indistinguishable, the stems reveal everything, every time. Subbs (on the stalks) are just slightly fuzzy in their appearance; foes are smooth and usually rather twisty and random. In any case, if someone can't reliably tell between the two, it's EXTREMELY unwise to eat 300 collected LMBs, and one would be lucky only to get diarrhea. Seriously folks, don't eat LBMs unless you've eliminated all possible doubts about your identification. And still, be careful.

Sound advice, never mind the thread age.

There are a lot of tryptamine derivates: Serotonine, 5-Htp, DMT, Baeocysteine and so on. And remember that chemically seen those are indoles which are closely related to coloring substances which is why shrooms do not have to be psychoactive just because they are bluing.

The shrooms in my avatar picture were pan foes, in the beginning I held them for subs.
But they only had that 5-HTP-feel (just increased Serotonine production, who know it feels me), I don't think they contained psilocybin.
