This tub's been going for a few weeks and seemed like it was starting to colonize ok, and then this just popped up pretty much overnight.

I'm assuming the tub is trash, but do I have anything to lose by trying to cut out the infection and seeing if the rest of the mycelium can thrive?

Or do you guys have any better ideas on possibly saving this tub?

You can always try, but most likely it will come back, take a look underneath your tub before deciding how much to cut :lol:

I've got a decent question that I haven't seen covered anywhere: what do we think of adding some dirt from my yard to my cvg and incubating it for a week before pasteurization and spawn to bulk?

There's prolly more than a few reasons why anybody isn't trying this. Contams being the biggest reason.

I've never had a grow fail in my yard, I think having a mini ecosystem could probably do some wonders for contamination defense. I'm going to test it in a few months once the stash is back to optimal levels

I don’t think you’ll see any benefits against contam, but I’d be interested to see if your fruit morphology changes. Outdoor fruits always look different.

That's trichoderma. Try cutting it out, peroxide, salting it, killing it with fire, playing death metal at unreasonable volumes, whatever you can think of. It won't work but everyone tries at least once. It spreads fast and it's already in the places it doesnt appear to be. Comes from bad spawn, uncolonized grains, any way it can get a foothold. It's prolific, everywhere and wants to eat what you're serving. Good clean spawn prevents it

Thanks mate, ive done 30 plates all bacterial. Might make a post about it. Left plate open in sab while i worked then incubated no contam after 14days. Made brf pucks/cakes yesterday to try get some heathy myc might create a post if i get any growth.

If your source material is contaminated, you might be better off just getting another one, if that's possible. Unless it's a rare/sentimental culture, it might save you a lot of uphill battle.

Certain isolates have reputations as being slow/finicky/difficult in comparison to more robust genetics.
