Yea from what i ve understood from some research it seems :

1 myco quart = 600/700ml spawn
1 quart coir = 1 full quart jar

Tbh if only muricans could adopt the freaking metric system

Thing is, it's just whatever happens to give you enough headroom to add grain in a G2G transfer, and/or shake it around to distribute the myc. So it's really just whatever the given volume of the container is, minus that percentage which needs to be empty space.

For Ball quart-size canning jars- the gold standard in the US- I consider the fill line to be right around the top of the capital cursive "B" in the word "Ball" on the side of the jar. The other side of the jar has marks for milliters, but to this day I've still never looked at for comparison.

But that's the thing- I don't really think in terms of volume, even though obviously that's what I'm working with. Same for coir. I've never measured out a quart of coir. Sounds like a lot of work. I add coir to the grain until I like the look of the ratio, then compress it until I like the depth of it. It's only through experience and back-calculation that I know what thw general ratios are.

I don't know if all that makes me more American or less.

For what it's worth, if I'm taking hard measurements, I almost always go with grams and milliliters. Especially if I need exact amounts of water for specific ratios. I've had to deal with recipes that had shit like "A pound plus 2.5 ounces" or "6 cups plus three tablespoons," and it pissed me off to no end.

If the jars are washed, the bad grains are gone, no? Even if they're still there if you PC correctly* should be fine.

Yeah, I know when I say "toss," I really mean "compost the contents and wash the container." Regardless of how putrid it might be.

There's always the possibility that whatever grew there could leave behind toxins, or that some spores inside an old fucked up grain might be especially hard to kill. And some fucked up old dry grains just might not get colonized, which could lead to problems.

But that's all just speculation on my part, because a quick scrub and rinse will pretty much get rid of everything. So I've never felt the need to experiment.

So I'm curious. Anyone been dedicated n curious enough to buy a single strain from every reputable vendor of mss or spore prints/swabs and isolated single spore monos outa each print n crossed them all into 1 (I'm curious if this would increase genetic stability or increase variety or increase vitality or would it just result in weaker genetics or sinesence for example som1 buying blue meanie prints from all viable vendors n crossing them back together growing out n crossing them all into one then hrow that out n tryed to grow from its spores

Repeatedly isolating monos removes selective pressure and you'd probably wind up with a weaker lineage over time. You can look up outbreeding depression to read up on it.

Venting the pressure canner for 10 to 15 minutes after the lock pops up before putting on the weight. This is to replace air with steam inside the pressure canner.

I have spawned 3 tubs May 18, 19 and 25. 18 and 21 are giving me constant Fruits and I have harvested a lot already. These two are JDM. The third tub is True Natalensis and there is just not that much going on even though it seems the substrate is fully colonized.

Do they just take longer or do you guys see anything on the foto im missing?

Does that look okay? The dark spot was caused by water dripping from the lid. But something is now changing on the far right in the middle. Is that okay? Or did I catch a conti?

If your plan is to keep running this tub, I'd chop this asap, cause it's gonna be green probably by the time I hit post on this.

Yeah, pasteurizing coir alone isn't really a big deal. Any temp is fine. If boiling was gonna kill stuff, it's dead. Whatever's in the tap water, you were going to mist anyway.
