Beef, the best thing you can do when it comes to taking care of this place, is to take care of yourself first. Good on you for having the self awareness to know when you need a break. This place would never be what it is without you...and what you have built is now a self-sustaining and self-fulfilling prophecy. We love you, brother, and will be here when you're ready to reengage. In the meantime I'm sending you love and blessings and my deepest gratitude for all you have done and all you have given to this hobby, this forum, and to me.

I have a confession.

The main gripe I have about the shroomery is the anonymity. Actually, that gripe is probably better reserved for the illegality of psilocybin throughout the world, but I digress. Anyway, the ability of trolls to just fuck up a good time is so easy here.

Look, I’m a really kind person in real life. For real. I sent CMH a gift card for his new baby with the print I sent him, for fucks sake! And I’ve never even shook the man’s hand! But my confession is this: I won’t go into details, but I used to be a badass muthafucka.  However, like most of us, I’m always focused on continuing my journey to be a better human. But I hate to admit, I will fuck up tultedspoon if I ever meet that piece of shit face-to-face.

This is why I feel like people need to separate this sense of ego or being too strong to ignore people from their experience here. If somebody doesn't have anything genuine to say but they constantly post. You shouldn't have to read that.

I'm back to giving them the benefit of the doubt.

There's a Dharma story about the Buddha inviting Mara in for tea.  And one of the Buddha's chief disciples, according to the mythology, was Mara in a past life.

Mara is essentially the devil.  The lord of hell.  But it's an office, not an individual.

Even the devil in Buddhism is capable of change and finding enlightenment.

Anyway, I don't know what tulted's intentions are. So I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. There could be AI translation issues happening. It could be someone in an authoritarian country trying to figure out how to grow mushrooms and connect (unskillfully) with our community.

And, I was very frustrated with them this morning.  I didn't need to make a big show of things in AQQ.

My rant had nothing to do with your exchange with him, treefrog. You’re one of the most pleasant TC’s here, so don’t please don’t feel bad for smacking that dude down. I’m the one who lost his shit. Lol.

I appreciate the Dharma story. Very wise stuff, indeed. I’m always working on trying to see the best in others, even when they probably don’t deserve it. But your presumption that he may be working through AI translation or is from outside an English-speaking country is likely wrong. He sent me a couple of DM’s a few months back. The language he used, the tone, the jargon…all different than what he uses in his posts, which are most likely written that way to confuse, deceive, and just waste everyone’s time. And he was nothing but critical of “everyone on this site”.

I dunno, I should just ignore him. But I hate doing that, even if sometimes for selfish reasons.

Anyway, you are all wonderful people, who I love interacting with. I’ll try to focus more on interacting with others I respect, admire, and just like.

I came to the same conclusion this morning, about putting my attention on good people.

It is hard though, when someone is disparaging myself, my friends, and a community I love.

And I didn't take your comment to be about my response to them this morning.  I was just reflecting on my own reactivity.  And I've had similar interactions in DMs.

Either way though, it's their misfortune.  This is a lovely community.  And if they allowed themselves to be vulnerable instead of critical, they might find understanding here.
