Weilii Question
    #2945215 - 07/30/04 02:30 PM (19 years, 7 months ago)

Wutup everyone,

I was wondering if its possible for weilii to live on our mountains here in GA, becuz im goin to redtop and was thinkin about goin to Kennesaw mountain. Do you think they would produce their. The whole red top mountain is like red clay and alot of pine. Im just wondering if its worth the trip. Also I was wondering how far you think Cubensis goes up here. Im in the Cobb county area if that helps. Anywayz write back. peace

mountain? probably not. but it could be worth a look anyways.

Since your tagline says your location (risky), Id say you have a better chance of just lookign around where you live... New areas from 3-8 or so years old with grass and irrigation or after plenty of rain. Check apartment complexes, new neighborhoods and what not.

good luck

Chances are you wont find any, and if that happens, check back when the temps drop.

Big Sloe from Cherokee Co here....Ive been all over Cherokee/ North Cobb the past four days, Im talkin everywhere, and have found three specimens, but nothing active. I think when the temp drops right off 575 is gonna have hot spots down to about exit. The high temperatures have been a bee-yatch, we need to be patient. I wish we could have gotten to enjoy this wonderful rain. Woodstock is looking beautiful, and I am seeing more construction than ever. Im planning on a better year than '03, and thats saying alot. We are going to have wonderful varieties and colors all fall. sonicyouth7@aol.com find me. its time to start a new woodsman club.

Well, Psilocybe weilii was discovered in Cherokee County in 1995 after hurricane Opal. It's natural habitat is recently disturbed soil(ie: land slides). With the temps as high as they are right now and the lack of rain that we've had, I doubt you'll find them this time of year. Weilii season is really late August to early November. You'd have better luck looking in newer neighborhoods(2-8 years old) in the lawns.

As far as cubes go... They really don't grow in cow pastures with any regularity north I-20(Newton County has a few producing fields). If you did find them North of I-20, you'd find them on stable shavings, which is huge mounds of horse shit and woodchips. Stable shaving heaps are common around horse parks.
