Important Weilii Question?
    #2006118 - 10/13/03 08:25 PM (14 years, 7 months ago)

I am new to weilii hunting, but I have been doing my research!!! In my recent hunts i have been finding the, somewhat, look-a-like Psathyrella velutina but due to many people being around i didn't have too much extra time to further my elplorations.I have been searching some of the local business parks, i find diff. in actives in the VERY green grassy parts mostly fescue and in the pinestraw beds around bushes. I'm thinking that since the Psathyrella velutina grows in similer conditions am i right to think that weilii are truly close bye? Like, are they an indicator or something close to that. Thanks for all you time and help!!!

if psathyrella are fruiting then you can generally bet that weilii are also fruiting. i have found weilii just inches away from psathyrella, but i have also been on lawns that were covered with psathyrella and did not find a single weilii.

generally if i see psathyrella i keep my eyes a little bit more focused because i do belive they do like they same environment (soil, moisture, humidity, grass, etc)

keep looking you are getting close.....

also be careful in the business parks.

good luck!
