I don't know if it feels better than any drug but it does feel pretty damn good after you do it for a while.

happy maybe, peaceful yes. You dont meditate to be happy tho, you meditate to establish a connection with god. Thus becoming at peace with yourself.
personal oppinion, other people dont know if youd like meditation more than any drug
but it will clear your mind and improve your life.

Nah, you didn't fail. You're on a break. That's evidenced by your demonstrated knowledge of the way you should be doing things. You'll get back on track eventually. (I'm in the same boat, hehe)

I meditate. I put my watch on a half hour countdown and sit there and try to think about nothing else but my breathing. I'm not very good at that though and usually think about old memories and what I need to get at the grocery store and whatnot. It is a peaceful feeling when the timer goes off and I open my eyes at the end, I think mainly it's just cause ok I am disciplined enough to sit still for half an hour more than any spiritual ladeda thing. Maybe that comes later. It does make me calmer.

Meditating can be awesome, but brings immense inner peace, and the joy of being, rather than happiness. Anything can become your meditation, just focus on the here and now and exactly what you are doing.
Siting and following the breath has at times been an immesurable aid to me, but my belief is if it takes you away from life it too can cause a schism. What I mean is if you are sat in the kitchen watching the squirels out of the window and enjoying a coffee - don't beat yourself up about the fact you should go upstairs and do your sitting or whatever. That is in effect you taking yourself away from a beautiful moment, and not allowing yourself to be at peace. Life can be your meditation and that beautiful moment watching the squirels can be your meditation if you enter it fully.
Feel your breath and breathe slow and deep - absorb the world and feel good.
I'm no master, but a master once taught me meditation should not be a separate part of your life, it should be your life.
I slip plenty, but I endevour and endure and I feel joy amongst the tumult. And occasionally I just plain feel like sitting and watching the breath or doing a 'loving kindness' (meta) meditation. So when I do feel like that I just sit and do it.
Well that's only my current personal opinion,
Peace

All conscious life is meditation. It's up to you to do something with it...

I wouldn't claim that meditation can make you feel really happy... it helps you see things in perspective with everything else... the things that used to make you unhappy, when seen for the illusions that they are, lose their power over you. Does this equate to happiness? Perhaps...
