In Jamaica where shrooms are 100% legal - The Gummies * 1

Was in Jamaica. Shrooms there are legal all the way. Cultivation, sale, purchase, possession & use. Found these there at a weed & shroom shop. Gummies. 6 pieces @ 1/2 a gram of psilocybin each. $65 USD. Super expensive I thought to myself. However, the most simplistic of gummy recipes on the ingredients. Can these be made like this? I know Mushboy had a nice recipe, but does anyone have one this simple? Look at the ingredients…

Also, the had other gummies & chocolates. The strongest they had was a single chocolate at .7g for $30 USD. That that was also insanely expensive.

To me, extraction of as much psilocin and psilocybin as well as other alkyloids is the first step, depending on strain, if you want a good reputation.  Don't want no mushroom bits in gummies.

On the other hand, I doubt there's much of a local market at all, if any. Especially since they're so naturally abundant there.

I have heard stories from before the current psilocybin boom. Jamaica simply never got around to passing laws against them in the first place, there was simply never anything about them on the books. But anyway, yeah, I've heard about people talking to some guy hustling at their resort- driver, weed guy, whatever, who said "yeah, I can get you some shrooms" and then took some nominal payment- $5, $10, $20, whatever. Days would go by, and they'd think "shit, I got ripped off." Then out of nowhere, he'd turn up with a colossal amount of fresh Pans when they had like three days left on their vacation lol

I bet those things will blow your head off, though. And are probably well-made in a proper commercial kitchen. I'd probably buy them just to support the hustle. You also have to keep in mind, a lot of clueless tourists will turn up and buy/eat them based on the price and get spun out and create all sorts of drama. $30 tells someone "hey, don't fuck around with this. This should be a substantial chunk of what you plan to do today."

I’d say those are higher than other places in Jamaica. There are plenty of stores that sell them. They also have capsules as well with straight ground up shrooms in. This shop didn’t sell those. One of the brands is called Vibey Caps and another Happy Cappies. Last year I was there I went to a local place and while it was a bit less expensive than the resort, it was still more than I thought to be fair. The products I saw last year were running about $12-15 USD per gram of actives to this year at the location I was at was $20+ USD per gram of actives. I haven’t tried any of their products there because I brought my own capsules. I really wanted to try those gummies, but I wasn’t about to pay $65 for them. I’m sure they would make for a decent trip though.

I mean, yeah, prices are gonna vary, and much of the service/tourist industry anywhere is about figuring out what the market will bear in that particular place and time. And as we all know, psilocybes are kind of a one-shot deal. It's not the same as selling someone beers all night or hooking them up with bud each day or two.

The devil is in the details, though. Who knows how the strength varies between those different products, or the consistencyof dose for that matter? I don't really like comparisons of doses based just on dry weight of material, as I think the idea that you can establish a baseline of "x amount of grams equals blah" is a spurious one. Even moreso given that we don't even know wich species we're talking about. To me, that carries right over into pricing- in Jamaica or anywhere else.

Also, can you be more specific? They're legal, right, so I mean, you can tell us exactly where these different stores were.  I'm really curious myself. Last time I was in Jamaica, weed was still illegal and the shroom boom had yet to begin.

No, it really doesn't.

Agar's primary use is as a thickening agent in cooking, up to and including as a substitute for/alternative to gelatin. It's commonly used in all sorts of deserts. In traditional Asian cuisine, and also just as a plant-based option.

They will only last in the fridge but without a preservative it's a very finite period.

I just checked out the website, and they have those little AI-generated caricatures of the crew with their names and job titles/roles. I'd bet an ounce of fungus that some or all of them are expats from somewhere else. Also, man, they went on a full-on publicity blitz.
