ATL7 (fruiting isolate genetics)

ATL7 (normal A, B mycelium)

and Cinctulus

Different species, different amounts of agar to water ratio (was rusty with agar but still did good I think?)
Same area under a dim light on a, furniture thingy?

Panaeolus Cyanescens, (Pan cyan - MIB)

Also noted I used food coloring, dunno if it's the same as food dye. Plus
I can name the brand name or even take a photo of the box it came from! :laugh:
I hope someone here thinks these agar dishes look good and healthy and everything!

Here are some spore to agar pics. First time ever doing this. Bottom left looks great to me. Am I wrong? Top right doesn't seem to have got too far but is very spherical. Looks like I have a lot of options for transfers. What are the 2 or three best spots? Hoping to get this to the point where I'm comfortable using spore prints and can therefore keep a library. I really would appreciate feedback as to what I should be looking for.

Side note, not sure I'm a fan of the PP5 dishes. As a learner I think the clearer dishes are better.

Began the war, hepa vacuumed the work space and drawers the plates are stored in, bleach wipedown of everything to start. Need to go harder I'm sure, lots of old jars etc in there that need to get cleaned out. Big bummer.. this might make me finally buy a microscope at least

For finding mites, a pocket microscope that goes to 60x, and has a light, that can illuminate from above, might be better than a powerful scope that only illuminates from below.

It’s tough to discern much in these photos, but slimy does not sound promising.  Typically looking for quick uniform growth.

For reference here's a LC S2A Reishi that was inoculated the same day

Gonna inoculate more pink oysters with my last plates, but I wanted to hear a second opinion on them.

I'm very new to this, but the growth seems very slow compared to the Reishi. In fact it's slower than the ESS that were spore germinated.

P. zapotecorum mycelium as it ages can produce a pigment, usually I've only seen it once a plate is fully colonised and has been sitting around.

This 3+ month old cake for example, went from all white to producing this pigmentation a couple weeks after 100% colonisation:


However, I have also seen pigmenting when contamination is present, so I would transfer from the 9 o'clock section to be safe.

Got it, my plate is not that old, but we've had a heat wave the last two weeks and I am under the impression, that Zapo's really don't like it above 24°C(75°F), it has probably been all the way up in the 28°C(82°F), could that be related to this pigmentation?

I'll make room in my fermentation fridge and set it to 22°C(71°F), take a small transfer from that T1 plate and place the T2 in the fermentation fridge and see if the pigmentation persist. Thanks again Dkeppel :hatsoff:

panaeolus cyanescens oregon - these are some germ plates looking pretty rhizo to me. Possible confusion? What do you think?


These are T1 panaeolus cyanescens Titans - coukld it be satellite colonies or looking clean to you?

Nice looking plates!

The Oregon labeled ones probably aren’t Pans.  Mine were germed on the 24th and have overrun the entire plate 100% - yours are growing waaaay slower.

The Titans are looking pretty clean to me, but I would still transfer once more.  Might as well grab 2-3 transfers from each to be honest.  Run them all if they still look clean and see what works best. :awesomenod:
