When Trump first got elected I said in the stock thread the markets would die, everyone told me I was wrong and trump would be good for the markets, it sucks that I was right lol

Going to check out the Hands Off protest where I live today. Anyone else have one in their locale?

Considering I am usually apolitical, and have never been to any kind of organized protest, it probably bodes well for the movement that even apathetic people like me are showing up lol

This American life did a segment on one of the foreign Columbia University students targeted by ICE. Includes audio of agents trying to get access to get apartment and eventually to execute a search warrant. Pretty scary shit

Successful event where I live. Even in the face of heavy winds and cold rain throughout. I have some criticisms, including repeated blaming of “white men” for all the problems (by a couple of the speakers). But still, the core of the protest being anti-fascism and pro-democracy has genuine power and will carry forward.

Had a small dose of psilocybin before I went. I feel more protesters need to psychedelicize. Let’s get weird and creative. Engage our right brain, find some novel solutions.

The movement needs to work on its slogans. “Hands off” wasn’t that inspiring to me.

Macron is like five times as suave as Trump.
Trump wishes he was perceived the same way. So he’s always quiet when he’s around him because he’s trying to learn how to mimic him. Luckily he has a learning disorder. So we don’t have to worry about that anytime soon.

Most political leaders actually do when they meet in person. Lots of back slapping, shoulder caressing and... erm, pussy grabbing.

When they meet they usually aim to sell and/or gain something, so it's pretty crucial they don't show anything resembling hostility.
Same thing as any salesman knowing the prime motive is to make the customer enjoy parting with his money.

Even Trump with his bulldog publicity tactics is said to be quite amiable in private.
