First, the goal of capital in this case isn't to scrap social security and it's not going to happen. The goal is to fuck it up enough to plausibly make the case that the government shouldn't administer it. Then it can be privatized. Its much more valuable as a vehicle to funnel public money into the markets than it would be if it simply ceased to exist

It isn't relevant because I never claimed that getting an ID was a hurdle for anyone. I said that voter ID laws suppress non-white votes but this isn't the thread to discuss that in. Consider that a final warning on that count.

Its a 20 min SS explainer piece from CNBC. I assumed you would cite some study or something that we can analyze. Something with a section labeled "materials and methods" would be ideal.

Edit: ok, a guy from Brookings said a thing then a lady from Heritage said another thing. Non-partisan, lol. People say lots of things. Show me the numbers

If I say that Trump's inheritance would be worth more today if he had just invested in securities instead of launching and failing enterprises, you'd take it at face value tho right? On its face, how is it even debatable that hindsight is 2020? I understand that no one knows the future and what investments willpan out, but we can look backwards and say "wow, we missed a lot of big opportunities to make better investments with the fund". We need to take more risk now to replenish the funds in lieu of other solutions and the past shows we could have benefitted from taking the risk sooner.
